I worked as an au pair for a month for a very wealthy family with a bratty 9 year old boy. Well paid, she was paying me triple what she should have been paying. Then i learned why -
From day one, he swore at me, kicked me, slagged off the other staff, bit me, kicked the dog, played foot ball in the house, complained about me to his mother, would only eat pasta with butter and grated cheese.
She offered me double to stay for an extra two weeks.... Bye bye.
The last day, just before i left. I gave him "the spank" - on the back of the thighs where it hurts. The last sounds i heard were "Mommy, Mommeeeee". As i skipped to the bus stop and home. With 1,500 swiss francs in my pocket. Plus the 100 i took for damages. Which way back then, was a hell of a lot of money.
That traumatized me for years!! I was only 18.
Had to many to to pin point just one
Worked in three different factory's in my late teens so would have to be one of them.
did something similar in Darwin, Aussie. stinking hot weather and dust all over the place.worst job ever and packed it in after a couple of weeks.Originally Posted by bsnub

Nothing too bad, but a couple of jobs stand out from memory.
To earn money while going to college, I took a job at a petrol station, which turned out to be in a questionable neighborhood. On the first night, the other guy on the job took me into the office and pulled a revolver out of his back pocket. Said he always had it for protection. I did not show up for work the second day.
The other one was at a Chinese restaurant delivering orders. In between deliveries I was to help out in the kitchen, which usually meant peeling garlic for the cooks. Stunk like garlic for hours after that, so I moved on shortly.
One of my favorites as a kid was loading hay bales. Walk along behind the hay baler, picking up bales of hay and throwing them up into the truck, where one of the other kids would stack them. Out in the warm sun, good exercise, lots of cool snakes and stuff to be found in the freshly mowed fields. I did that for a few summers when I was 11 or 12. Good money....$2 a day, which bought a lot of soda, candy and comics.
was an "assistant manager " a small 7-11 type place for a while , but the benefits were stocking up the fridge - so no issues

If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.
Picked apples in an orchard in Washington state while travelling around America, it was a bit of a laugh being the only Aussie wetback surrounded by Mexicans made about $40 a day which I promptly spent on beer after work, Tough way to survive but at least I didn't have to swim the Rio Grande to get in I flew in from Aussie , the owner of the farm was a good guy and new I didn't have a green card or work visa, Told me if you see the Mexicans running and shouting La Migra La Migra then best try to keep up .
While I was on that orchard I Found out why Mexicans have big noses. ........Gives em something to pick in the of season. Nah just kidding , they were alright the Mexicans and some damn fine senioritas amongst them.

Apprentice electrician.
Spent the first year working for an old Italian dude one man show, I was 16 treated like a slave, hammer and chisel in hand knocking holes in brick walls to run wires.
Transferred to another company in 2ND year, fuked off in the 4th year and took of around Australia with my mate.
Best thing I ever did, hated that job.
Handy having the knowledge though, made quite a bit of money over the years doing cash jobs.
I see fish. They are everywhere. They don't know they are fish.
Good thread this one Davis, bringing back a few good memories. Cheers. Might spank the monkey tonight. Ah senioritas
Unloading fish meal at Colchester docks wasn't very nice. Almost as bad as working on the sewage pumping station in Harwich
Patsycat, do you still offer this service? I'm good for at least 2,000 Swiss francsThe last day, just before i left. I gave him "the spank" - on the back of the thighs where it hurts. .... With 1,500 swiss francs in my pocket.....
Worked in loads of crap jobs before the age of 20, the people made them bearable in most cases.
the most repetitive mundane i had was in Australia doing data entry for 10 hour shifts, but the staff parties were awesome!
Have worked on a lathe drilling a hole in a piece of metal 120 times an hour for ten hours straight, that was mind numbing but the money was good at the time.
Best job was cocktail bar at Butlins, £100 a night in tips and a different bird at the end of each shift.
Can’t believe I didn’t mention this one: I worked for Amazon in one of their distribution warehouses. I think it is probably the worst job I have had. I was exhausting and if you did not ‘pick’ enough books in an hour, you got the boot. It’s the only job I have walked out off. Six months in, half way through a night shift I had just had enough. Walked out the warehouse doors and into the Norfolk countryside for a rather long walk home.
Saw a doc about that Amazon work, more like a job for a robot, not easy.
Another summer at Kohler Company I ran a lift hyster transporting finished toilets. A pallet was 2 stacks of 6. Had to stack 3 pallets high and run them from the line to the warehouse. That's close to 3 meters high so it was quite a nerve wracking experience.
I was once employed as a 'wringer out' for a one armed window cleaner!
