Laab Moo is an old faithful, and who am I to deny you it in a crusty multi-grain bap?

You may also order that bap filled with creamy Boston Clam Chowder if it happens to be the soup of the day.

I'd be a happy customer if along with my ice cold beer I could have some sliced roast beef and real Swiss cheese on a sourdough sandwich roll, with a bit of mayo. On the side I'd like a serving of potato salad please.

Been dreaming of something like that since I've been here, but it's a bit hard to find in the sticks where I live. I don't even know of a place in Bkk to find that.

Frankly, these types of businesses will thrive better in a provincial setting.

All but the Swiss cheese but I can get it.

Beef is roasted and sliced in house, though I need to source a new blade on the slicer as it's getting blunt. need to check it out when I get back from Korea.

If it's a proper rotary slicer, blades a doddle to sharpen.
Sounds like quite a varied menu there Dirk, but don't go all Weatherspoons, it's quality and consistancy, not range that brings em back.

Dirk it might be an idea to put your menu up. Save the good punters the trouble of asking for what you have already. Sounds pretty expansive and lush as it is.
I do enjoy NZ lamb chops and any kind of Scandi meatballs.

Will have to do a google to see how far Songkla is from my gaff. Any other attractions to make it worth my/our while?

Actually, I think I've covered most of the menu already.

Just wanted to add a few things I can't seem to get anywhere around town.

Will check out the slicer when I get back, not actually seen it yet myself.

I don't actually take over until August, but I've known all previous owners well and know the place pretty well too.

From Don Sak to the bar stool is 346km. I clocked it when I bought my Magna. 3hrs 15mins.

It's main attraction is probably that there are no tourists, and all the rip offs and scams that come with them. Nice chilled out place on the beach and if you want city then Hat Yai is only 26kms along the road to Dan Nok.

The seafood is famous and embarrassingly cheap.

I dunno man, what sort of attractions would you be looking for? There's something for everyone.

No bagels and you won't find the colemans in the condiments basket although there is hot mustard and it's perfectly acceptable. Excellent in a roast beef sandwich.

I would stick to one cuisine.

Makes life easier when you are sourcing. Have a costing plan and what you can or can't offer as regular meals. Pleasing everyone is not always the go, you end up stretching it too far and it becomes less edible in terms of quality. But a good effort and I will definitely be checking it out.

Of course, temples everywhere, there a pagoda at the top of Monkey Mountain with panoramic views which is an old battlement.

There's a free history museum, aquarium with many different things going on from go-karts to monkey shows etc etc.

My new place is about a 5 min walk from the Songkhla Stadium, home of the Songkhla Bulls and the lower team I think is the Songkhla Elephants. 60 baht entry.

Plus there's always some kind of festival on. Beach volleyball, Toyota Rally etc etc.

I've seen plenty of them in Thailand. CP even sell bags of them frozen. Just shallow fry them for a while and Bingo - Delicious chicken wings.
