    Glyphosate

Glyphosate (N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine) is a broad-spectrum systemic herbicide used to kill weeds, especially annual broadleaf weeds and grasses known to compete with commercial crops grown around the globe. It was discovered to be a herbicide by Monsanto chemist John E. Franz in 1970.[3] Monsanto brought it to market in the 1970s under the trade name "Roundup", and Monsanto's last commercially relevant United States patent expired in 2000.

I had never heard of glyphosate until I bought a house in a jungle.

Now I spray it everywhere to keep the triffids at bay.

After spraying 25:1 dilution on the leaves it takes a few days before the plant shows visible signs of dying but in the end there is only one winner.

For larger plants and trees you can just drill a hole in the stem and pour the stuff in undiluted.

Toxic for every type of life form including the general environment.
What is this extreme angst towards over abundant plant life that we need to apply toxic chemicals everywhere and anywhere?

FFS, it's just as easy to maintain a regiment of cutting it back. Get some exercise as well.

He does indeed, but the man speaks the truth. That is nasty shit and you don't want it in your well water if you have one!

I knew what you meant. But the one plant you can't maintain/kill by cutting it back is bamboo.

Well, live with it. It does with you knowing that our species is clearly the most intrusive and destructive.

If you (or the previous owner of your land) has had the foresight to plant clumping bamboo rather than spreading bamboo, there is no problem.
    If it's the spreading type...BIG problem !

It is still a lot safer than Paraquat, which is deadly, banned in many countries, and causes a syndrome called Paraquat Lung in even light exposure. Had a few cases in our area so the suppliers are giving out free masks. I still see the farmers mixing it up with no gloves. Nasty stuff.
