Do you give money to beggars in Thailand.?

A friend of mine was telling me last night, the amounts they earn and how much they have to pay the BIB in suki soi 4

Old woman who sits outside hillarys, earns upto 2,000 baht a day pays BIB 500 baht a day.

The cambodians with there kids can make upto 3,000 baht per day pay BIB 600baht.

The guy with half a leg earns upto 3000 baht per day and pays only 300 baht per day seems he used to be in the forces.

I have in the past given my small change mainly to older people but after hearing this, i will stop now, the person who told me does work on the streets so i can assume his info is correct.

Did this not occur to you before mate?

Ever seen a one-legged dude with a bowl dragging himself down the road using his chin in Nakhon Nowhere?

I'm pretty sure I know the woman outside Hilarys you're talking about.

50 ish with wavy hair in a ponytale?

She lives round the corner from me in Ploenchit and does very well for herself

I have heard that the street beggars are "controlled" by "mafia"...Makes sense... The little cart bars on Sukhumvit that are literally parked on the road with their chairs and tables on the sidewalk are continually shaken down by "brutal" cops...

We used to party at a new one that was started by three young, enterprising cuties whom we visited regularly and there was one tough cop laden in gold, dressed in black, who regularly stole bottles of whiskey and shook them down...

They told us that the cops wanted to get into their panties, but they refused...Could be one reason they were targeted almost every night...

^Across the road on the odd side, around Subway area...They are gone now...Had to sell it...But they were cuties, and they gave it a good go...

However, that was about the same time that a new police commander ruled the area...And the cops just wouldn't let them stay open late...Just couldn't make money...

I rarely give money although just a few times I've seen beggars still sitting out in the pouring rain getting soaked through. I figure they must really need the money so my hand goes in my pocket for those ones.

Got caught outside a MaccyD's in Patts a few years ago by some old guy with a printed card explaining that he was deaf n dumb.

Musta been a bit pissed cos I handed him Bt100 - then he flicked the card over to show me that the 'normal' donation was 1500. So sorry, I said taking the 100 back and putting it in me pocket. With that I turned and walked off.

    He wern't happy! Greedy twat.

Shit yes I give money and it's only obvious those beggars are richies stories are tripe sauteed in pig piss. My MO is to have what I like to call a drop, a beggar I have an affinity for, usually not crippled but inflicted, like cerebral palsy or something similar. They get my hit every time I pass them.

I will usually give something to the ones who I think are genuine or even cute flower girls ,more so when I'm drunk which to be fair is the only time I would actually meet any flower girls I suppose ,come to think of it I don't think I have ever seen one whilst I've been sober....strange .
There was some poor soul who I saw around Bangkok a few years back ,around about the time of the tsunami , and he would be flat out on the pavement in a kind of superman pose just flicking a little cup along in front of him , he had big pads of skin on one of knees totally fukced he was the poor kunt , anyway I gave him money whenever I saw him .

As a general rule, I don't give my hard earned cash away to any beggar. Sometimes, of course, there are exceptions. It depends on the circumstances.

I used to most of the time, only 20bt or loose change.

I remember seeing a women in Soi nana with a young girl of about 4 laying in the street.

It brought a lump to my throat as the poor kid was so skinny and obviously seriously sick, she looked like she was very close to death.( might of been HIV )

Gave the women 500bt was the least I could of done being fit and healthy going out to get pissed and laid.

I'm not a mug but couldn't walk past that !

Maybe so in your eyes but it made me feel better to think that the money could help out somehow.

When you see genuine cases like that its fucking heartbreaking,I think I would of been not only a mug to just walk by but a heartless cnut of a man.

Never, but the missus does, even though I tell her not to. She thinks she'll be rewarded in her after-life.
