Too many completely insane incidents to list, so I packed my bags and waited until one morning very early to slip out the front and flag a taxi and put the village off the scent by telling him to take me straight to Don Muang where I had a smoke and took another cab straight downtown and stayed in a hotel for a few months of "uninsane" pleasure...

Completely tired and fed up with the nutter drinking problem with Thai women...

And I gave no warning of leaving because I did not want to explain myself anymore...Even after years together, I just wanted away because I could not stand that bullshit one more time...Had to make a clean break...And I shut the fecking phone off, too...

Poor bitch called her erstwhile girlfriend (who is married to an Aussie friend of mine) 20 times, and she would not answer to talk to her... Finally, she had her brother tell her not to call anymore as the number had changed...I was not the only one who was fed up with her shit-disturbing drunkenness...

It was a hard line to draw because I do have compassion and my Aussie friend really wanted me to talk with her at least, but as much as I respected him more for showing his concern, that was not going to happen...

Whatever incidents any of you have had with drunken partners, I guarantee you my experiences will trump any that you can offer...

I had a farang with a Thai wife working for us.

After the night dive was over we would settle in for a few drinks.

Soon as the beer hit her lips something would happen, her whole persona would change in a flash.

Fuk me, they had some mad arsed fights.

Never seen any woman convert into a raving, mad, insane being as quickly as her.

Next day it was like nothing happened.

They are not together any more.

Well, to be fair - my missus does not need booze to turn into a raving loony. She is perfectly capable of doing that stone cold sober. Her real one weakness is an unwavering belief in any old crap. For example when the neighbour told her that her cousins nephews giks other boy friend saw a farang who looked a bit like me hopping on motocyle which apparently shouting at the top of my voice -"take me to the nearest short time hotel". My that was fun.

The fact that I NEVER take motocycle taxis took a very, very long time to sink in (14 years in Thailand, never taken one). In the end i insisted, bloody insisted that she follow this one back. Turns out someone had seen me one morning taking a taxi to go to a bangkok hotel conference. That she knew all about. Ho hum.

Or the time that we had a real set to becuase SHE dreamed I was seeing someone else. Apparently anything she dreams is actual reality.

Still, she is good on the booze. very moderate. We can share a bottle of wine, she likes a beer, but in moderation. last time she got wrecked many years ago was "celebrating" with friends from the street the end of the bhuddist lent about 10 years ago (she goes off booze for three months). Man she was wasted. Ended up in a heap on the bathroom floor, alternately crying that she was dying and throwing up in the toilet.

I went to bed and left her to it. She has not done it since.

Alcohol is like that. It has well been said to bring out the best and the worst in people.
The AA philosophy is notable in that it recommends complete abstinence.....then continuing that, one day at a time.

Dillinger...a bit of psychology may be in order : next time she drinks, make sure that she has a bad experience (preferably being sick) to remember, so that this will be her memory of alcohol in the future, when she then considers having a few.
Even if you have to feed her something that you know will make her sick (give her both red and white wine, plus greasy chips, plus something equally disgusting but palateable when drinking....like really salty food).

The bottom line is that :

I did this myself with cigarettes in 1977. Have hated the bloody things ever since. BTW....how are YOU going on that front ???

My wife drinks less occasionally than I do and seems to hold it quite well when she does. Usually it's just sharing a beer over dinner, or having some whiskey & sodas with friends during an evening out. Never seen her completely shit faced. I'll have to set that as a goal and see what happens.

The craziest I have seen her was when she was sober. Not long after we were together, she got irked that I was using my laptop too much and came after it with a meat cleaver while I was using it. Before I could stop her, she took a wack and severed the LAN cable. I grabbed the cleaver from her and tossed it into a pond next to the bungalow. I gave her a good verbal lashing for that one.
