Shall give it a watch, might paint a positive picture of the expat scene there.
^which Xpat scene would that be? there is more than one or have we just a re-run of ladyboys?
Is there anyone else left on this forum who can construct an intelligible sentence?
Hmmm ,
"Leigh is about to perform a spice girls routine with her dance troupe when the lights go out, businessman Gary is looking for a housemaid , Thai premier football star Mike throws up on the pitch, and (It had to come) pensioner Dave patrols the red light district.
pardon me if I dont stay up!

So a player from Northwich Victoria now plays in the Thai league. Maybe there's an opening for David Moyes here too......
^
Hadn't thought of that...following in Abhisit's footsteps.
Failures, fantasists, obnoxious racists with little grasp of other cultures,Dysfunctional dreamers sexpats and alcoholics seems an unfar as this reflects only 99% in fact all except our esteemed members
'video not available', probably just as well
it's on tvchaos.
i didn't make it all the way through.
the gay guy is a twat, the "dancer" is talentless, the bar owner without a bar doesn't seem to be doing much, the footballer part was OK but not sure where it can go. and the old guy tourist policeman is cringeworthy. talking to russian tourists in some thai-english murder of the language.
i wont bother with future episodes.
media guff about "exotic" thailand and its wacky expats is so hackneyed.Quote:
For tourists, Bangkok is an overwhelming city, but beyond the tourist trail is another world that has made Asia’s hottest city the destination for go-getting Brits. 40,000 Brits have set up home in Bangkok - a city of opportunity, where a nobody can become a somebody - where the spirit of enterprise is strong.
They’ve risked it all in moving here, and for most Brits the pros outweigh the cons – they’re suddenly big fish in a small pond – they’re achieving things they never could back home. However, alongside all the highs, we’ll be seeing a few lows as well.
Over the course of the series, we follow a colourful ensemble of Brits. People like Michael Byrne, originally from Aston Under-Lyne, who was playing for non-league Northwich Victoria before becoming the first Brit to play in the Thai Premier Football league. He now has a salary and star status he could only dream about back home, but can he hold his form and stop other foreign players stealing his place - and the limelight?
Starry eyed British dancer Leigh Barwell’s quest for fame fizzled in the UK, but in Bangkok, she’s got a successful dance troupe, and a hectic showbiz schedule. But finding decent western dancers is hard - the budgets are small and the list of client demands big.
For high flying businessman Gary, Bangkok allows him to lead a champagne lifestyle on a beer budget – he works hard, parties hard - he’s got a sharp dress sense and an even sharper tongue!
everybody knows most of thailands working expats are hopelessly degenerate and unprofessional failures, unable to make it in their own land, with unrealistic dreams of living it large, and desperately trying to escape from their dismal pasts.
Non-working ones, too.Quote:

Hope there's a mention of Thailand's thriving teaching community and how you can earn enough money to pay for Mama noodles, a beer and the occasional night with a bargirl.
Is "high flying businessman Gary" by any chance Gary Rossow, an ex-Marine resident in Bangkok that I worked with in Qatar?
Thanks for the link, but I did not get to the end - too painful. I'm pretty sure the creepy tourist Police bloke said he arrests tourists for chatting up prostitutes? Dancer is living the illusion rather than the dream, clueless and far too old. I have seen hundreds of dance troupes in Thailand and after 15 years last year I saw the very best I have ever seen at a Cham Cham Ram concert, they even upstaged the act. After I asked the manager how much they charged (4 hour show). For the 8 dancers it was 6k so they probably got 500 each and they have to buy their own costumes and make up. What would Leigh be pulling in? Dancers for recording companies can earn about 2k a show and even up to 5k for certain very special acts.
Gary was obviously as gay as they come, fussy twat and rude to the interviewer. Never got as far as the bar owner but I have met a few like him, they never seem to learn do they.
