    Age Expectancy.

We are informed that the "average" life expectancy in the UK for men is 79 and for women 83.

Once you reach a certain age it certainly gives you focus on what you really want to do before you croak it.

I'm reckoning on another ten years in which I intend to commit the oldest sins in the most original of ways. After that I'm not really bothered, whether six feet under, or rambling on in sheltered housing with all the other golden oldies.

At the moment I'm 56 and newly retired.

I well expect to make 57.

Average only works if one is average. Do whatever it is now. Ten years later maybe 1 week too long.

I worked with a guy who had a bypass operation at 55 and the stupid doctors let him come back to front line firefighting.

Dude died of cancer still working 2 years later. Died with a squillion dollars in Super in the bank.

His wife laughed all the way as they did not get on.

    Silly tosser EH.

Many guys I now still working when no need too.

They stay for the big dollars in later years.

Fuk that I recon, retire and enjoy what time one has left.

    Money poisons people.

    One only needs enough.

With as much grace as I can muster Terry, I'm gradually coming round to your way of thinking. But thank you anyway for reconfirming it.

I retired at 51. No regrets. Enough money and spending time with my wife and kids. That's more important than an additional 2% per year on the pension.

My friend at Uni of Florida was told he'd only got a few years we shared a few beers at theDrs funeral, suchh bliss it is to be alive, sieze everyday, squeeze your lover for who know when!

Of course averages are useful for acturies, pension firms and planninghospitals but have no bearing on the individual.

You could eat a healthy diet no smoke no drink then the malaysian Airline,Tsunami drunk driver,I doubt with my lifestyle I'll draw my main pension at 65 but who cares its the quality not the quantityy for me.]

Apart from some Pacific boating i've been everywhere i want paid off the debts and mortgages so the last lap to is to tidy my garden house affairs to leave my family as good a start as possibel in the post Rubba era.

I'm coming back as a whistle, for the final push, provide that brewery heiress is blowing me daily Singha song of sexpence

WEB NEWS - Calls to boycott Singha beer in Thailand - Video Dailymotion

I'm refusing to buy Singha but not to drink it if offered

    Mine says 97.

I took a different one a while back with about the same results but said I have a 25% chance of living over 100. Really scared me a bit.

Need to play with my balls more often. And quit smoking. I already knew about one of those.
Plenty of partying left yet. Growing old disgracefully.

Amen to that. I retired aged 53. Better planning and I'd have retired earlier. No one with any foresight should work passed 55.

Here is the Rub, when I retired at 56 in September last year some guys where horrified.

    They said to me,

Dude you have done 34 years service as a front line firefighter Just stay another 4 years and pick up an easy 500 K +

Being conservative here, quite a bit more actually when one factors in compounding superannuation and yearly wages increases.

Super goes nuts after age 55 if long term employed.

My reply to them was '''''''

Stick the job and the money firmly up your arse. My mum died at 60 and I'm not taking any chances.

Yes, work the extra years, give an extra 4 years of your life up for the money and die with extra dollars in the bank.

A massive fuk that to that I say.

Best thing I ever done was setting myself free.

Amen again. A guy once asked me what I'd fill my days in by not having to work? I had no hobbies. But come retirement there ain't enough hours in the day to do all I want. Staying off the piss is a must.

Of course their calculation of 95 is all bullshit. Nobody knows. I had major, but fairly routine, stomach surgery two years ago for a stomach problem that they don't know the cause of, but from which the recovery went wayyyyyyyyyyy bad and I came very close to cashing in - twice.

That was the diverticualr thing right? I am getting that more and more and was very bad in NZ for a week. Is this what happened in your case worse and more often with the pains, or did it just hit you hard one time? I don't fancy surgery at all.
