Just curious - the rates of incarceration in the US is extraordinary high - but I wonder if the rate of us is similar. It's a secret poll so no one will know the answer...

So - Have you been in Jail? On parole now? On the Run?

1 out of every 32 of us is either in prison or on parole from prison, according to yet another report on Americans behaving badly from the Bureau of Justice Statistics.
This means that 6.7 million adult men and women -- about 3.1 percent of the total U.S. adult population -- are now very non-voluntary members of America's "correctional community."

I was once incarcerated for the night and fined 5 shillings by the magistrate the next day.
My crime? I fell over a police dog running riot outside a pub and was unfairly accused of being drunk and disorderly.

Only ever heavily fined coz I had a decent job and was given a suspended sentence.

Floored a traffic warden in my youth for unreasonable behaviour towards my pride and joy XR3i, same as decking a copper according to the judge.

ABH/GBH they hung me out to dry.

Mum wasn' t too pleased, dad gave me a pat on the back.

The fine was £700 and that was over 20 years ago.

Under age driving (no license, tax, insurance,MOT)

Attempt to pervert the course of justice

I think that's them all. Long time ago. Charges have a way of sounding a lot worse than they are on your rap sheet, which offers no explanation of the actual incident. Costs £20 for a copy.

Any Americans about who could give an approximate sentence in America for this type of offence? Youth is what - 14 or 17 / 19 ? Makes all the difference....

I decked a bloke in Cardiff in front of three rozzers. They hauled us both in and rather than all the confusing paper work, let us off under section 1, subsection 1 of the Boys will be Boys law. Well that's what the booking sgt said refusing to write our names down, considering the two of us were chatting away about the game we had just watched.

Nothing like that, the 'house' in question was a port-a-cabin on a building site.
