Its obvious to see that many members here don't like Thailand in any shape or form, but why do they stay here or visit on a regular basis.?
Come on guys share you hatred for your adopted country.

mostly for these types because they can not afford the hookers in their home countries perhaps?Originally Posted by Yasojack
Outstanding warrants and the lack of an extradition treaty.
Burnt bridges, inertia and poverty. That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it.
Its easy isn`t it?
Everyone has a reason and it could be one of many.
1. As stated above. Burnt bridges
2. Cheaper living
3. family connections
4. Outstanding warrants
5. Cheap sex
6. Slower pace of life
To name but a few.
I fall into number 3 personally. I must admit, that my faith in Thailand was restored a little on my recent trip to Koh Chang. Not once did I fell like, nor was I, ripped off and the people we`re exceptionally pleasant and friendly. Then again, most of them were Cambodians.
I aint superstitious, but I know when somethings wrong
I`ve been dragging my heels with a bitch called hope
Let the undercurrent drag me along.
Some people are distraught that were they ever to visit a National Park and not take along their Thai driving licence or any Thai ID , they would have to pay more to get in than the locals , its caused no end of anguish
Fluke other than a Marine park if I am going I am driving a car. So I have my DL with me. How often did you not carry a DL or ID card in your home country?Originally Posted by Fluke
This has become mine for better or worse. So if you are legally employed have the correct valid visa and pay taxes here you are regarded as a resident. Bring proof, and dont stir the pot.
Your comment in reality is not germane to the OP's question.
The temples.
I'm waiting to leave. Flight was scheduled in March, but my back got worse and I don't dare to sit in a plane for 11 hours. Visa expires in June, I hope I'll be fit by then and it's Adios shithole. Should never have come, bloody sex addiction.
Boon Mee: 'Israel is the 51st State. De facto - but none the less, essentially part & parcel of the USA.'
One thing that I find confusing .
Everyone back home who has been to Thailand is always really complementary about the Country , raving about this and that......yet everyone here hates the place.
Will the people here now who hate Thailand suddenly start raving about it when they get home ?
Well, i was passing a nice few weeks doing my tourist thing with some friends. Beaches, elephants, bars etc.
But, I had to leave rapidly (in fact, i changed my ticket). Because, we were visiting a temple. I was just sitting there feeling the peace and contemplating my navel when all of a sudden, out of the blue this maniac attacked me and started ranting and raving about music playing and how i had to do some sort of arm waving dance along with the music...
I now can not go out alone and have started to seriously think about taking antidepressants.
There's a big difference in staying for an holiday and living here. Chalk & cheese.Originally Posted by Fluke
