The best way to move forward is hop on a motorcycle.
Been riding my big GS a bunch lately. Later this month I'll be in CA to meet up with my freshly modified KLR705 and air freight it to Amsterdam.

I wanna share this link with my fellow motorcyclists.

I'm inspired to get a GL1800 as my next big ride.

No meltdown re. Willy . . . excellent. A touch smeg-like, but well done

Sold my middleweight cruiser (Yamaha 650) when I got really sick with End-stage liver disease. I really miss riding (although I am more of a Harley guy).

^sorry to hear that, motorcycle riding is something that helps me be alive.There was a spell when I had sold all my bikes to pursue a flying career.
The only Harley I would ever own would be an xr1200. Not really a Harley guy sorta bike.
Not many Harley guys ride RTW though I did meet a Dutch fellow in Colombia riding a Sporster 1200, he was an odd duck for sure.
But that is what's cool about motorcycles there are all kinds of different types.

I did spot this one in Pattaya whilst I was there which I took some time to admire.
Looked uncomfortable to ride and not a bike I would want to own,definitely looked good though!.






Not being a Harley lover not sure what this would be classed as.

I think a bike referred to as a bobber. Cool looking for sure, can't say I ever have taken one for a ride.

Think the piss taking was mostly down to price vs speed.

Anyway, I'd buy that mad looking fvcker if it was 200k or so

^ Take a HD for a spin, mostly 1200cc or upwards of pure bliss, feel the torque betwixt yer legs, the back wheels response to a squeeze of the throttle, the raw bellowing rasp of the vance & hines short pipes. fuken A man, then come back n take the piss.

Toured Europe twice on the GSXR and EXUP, mint bikes but if I had to chose one it would be a flip of a coin between the M900 and HD48

Harleys aren't for everybody, their reliability is a joke (speaking of jokes... What was the new Harley owner doing walking down the road? Answer: Looking for parts!)

(BTW Many hardcore MC bikers in the US don't consider the Sportsters as true Harleys).

But if you've ever ridden a big, loud, trembling HD softtail, it kind of grows on you.

But Mr. Earl is right, in that riding is riding, whether it be a screaming red Ducatti, or a massive Honda Goldwing.

As a youngster I only ever remember seeing these bulky things,we just called them chunks!

If anyone is in Pattaya/Jomtien there is a bike I wanted a photo of but never had my camera handy when I saw it.

Its owned or ridden by a bloke that looks like Rapunzel dirty blonde plat down to his arse.

The bike looks like some kind of take on the Bat bike and goes like shit off a shovel,Christ knows what lump hes got in that.
I saw him open it up on the same stretch of road in Jomtien where the Russian got torn in two,I was left muttering to myself fucking arseholes what a lunatic.

Some must have seen this fella,probably the Maddest biker in Pattaya.

Honda is using the GL1800 engine in some cool bikes.
This F6B is very popular in Europe.

I'm not sure I'd want to own a HD or similar, but I did rent a Kawasaki Vulcan 1700 for a week of gentle riding along the coast from Melbourne via Sydney to the Gold Coast and it was a brilliant bike for it. Loads of lazy torque for lazy, laid back riding. Great stuff.



Bikes I've owned: Honda Firestorm, Honda XL1000V Varadero (I couldn't afford a GS), GSXR 750, Chang Jiang 750 with sidecar, Royal Enfield Bullet 500.

I've enjoyed them all, albeit the latter two more in the knowledge that I had some form of two wheeled, actually three in the case of the CJ, conveyance parked outside. Neither of these two were actually a sensible form of day-to day transport.

If I had to pick a favourite it'd be the Varadero. I had it for about three years and covered about 80,000 Kms on it. Really comfortable to ride and never missed a beat. It was as happy nipping down the road to Tops as it was going to Phnom Penh or Singapore. I loved that bike.

Some nice bikes. Love the flat black. The GL's seem a bit tricked out to me.
