Why are there so many Thai lovers in forums?

It's obvious to see that many members here love Thailand, so why do they come for many hours to English or German forums, and drop an average of 20 to 50 posts every day? Are there no forums for Thai people who would appreciate the appraisal much more?

Should not meaningful conversations with their Thai spouses and families reflecting on the natural beauty and cultural achievements of this extraordinary country occupy all their time? Why do they still spend more of it at computer monitors talking to other foreigners?

Thais have such an unquestioning loyalty to the state, but any further communication seems to be damage limitation.
I find any religious deity quite abhorrent, when it confuses merit with forgiveness on such a casual basis.

I don't think there's much genuine love for Thailand amongst westerners outside of the once in a lifetime holidaymakers.

Expats that live there and regulars that holiday there every year are there for the easy pussy, cheapness of everything and nice weather.

    What cultural achievements?

Whatever natural beauty Thailand has is typical across the region.. nothing special.
Malaysia has better beaches and less crowds

Rainfall, you are a nice person, so let Me explain, My life is so full on, beyond your wildest dreams, that to come onto Teak door is a break from the madness out there.

Bangkok is a pretty cool city to live in. It is overcrowded now, and the pollution is becoming unbearable, but there are so many places to see and things happening.

Europe has Paris, but that's about it.

What I don't understand is why people such as Smeg post on Teak Door, Thai Visa, Ajarn.com when they live in places like Skegness and Bournemouth. Envy?

Is there a forum, maybe run by Everest Double Glazing, where I can whinge about how bad I think the UK is?
I see fish. They are everywhere. They don't know they are fish.

Chiang Mai is a good place to live also. People here are very sweet, much more so than people in Western countries. It's growing like crazy which I'm not really happy about but growth happens just about everywhere. I can get cranked up and complain about bad drivers or bad workmanship, but hey, that is the way it is. I can truly say, I am happier here in this laid back lifestyle than living in the US or Japan.

Beats me why people like Smeg and the other anti-Thai people continue to post on Thai forums well after they leave. They didn't like Thailand and left. You would think they would move on.

Oh, I spend my days around Thai people, so I like coming on this forum and communicating with Westerners.

I just remembered something. I am registered on a Swiss forum. Maybe I should post loads of vitriolic posts on there about how Swiss people all make cuckoo clocks and gnomes, and keep gold bullion in their basement. I could get into arguments with patsycat.

    Bangkok stinks
Chiang Mai has way too much smokey pollution

Pattaya is a peaceful, clean little town with great beaches.

I had forgotten about the cheese. Yes, who wants cheese with holes in it? I think I had better get posting.

I see there is an abundance of folks who want to adopt the Thai attitude of burying their head in the sand and pretending something isnt there if it is anything negative.
Only positive posts are allowed eh?
Face facts folks, Thailand isn`t the paradise its made out to be. Its just like any other country in the world, with lots of positives and negatives.
What gets up my nose, are the people who defend the place to the hilt and refuse to acknowledge that it has any pitfalls. Oh yea, thats right, one has to be mixing with the wrong sort to experience these things, but if your married to a HiSo, this never happens.

Tend to think there are a lot more positives than negatives in Thailand, Some posters will not be happy wherever they live.

Yes Thailand can be frustrating at times but can be overcome if you take the time.

I or should i say my wife owns more here than i could ever have in my own country, which is a positive for my kids future.

I don't think this attitude is a liability. It is a way to remain happy when confronted with the unpleasant.

Not that, either, but constantly being negative makes others not like you. (Not YOU, astasinim, but the likes of Smeg and a handful of others.)

Pitfalls abound, but the people you attach yourself to make all the difference in whether you will stay on and adjust or leave with bad feelings about the place.

Most countries have good and bad points, your pay grade/income/wealth dictates your life style.
UK, US, OZ, EU, etc have great parts, but a shit hole is a shit hole anywhere, Thailand has just more to offer for your dollar than most.

For me the good things far outweigh the bad, if things, can change re assess, but for now the west offers nothing. Jim

That's true but people radically underestimate the extent to which they are the authors of their own shitty lives. If it's all going well, it's because they're great; if it's all going to shit, it's because of those fucking Thais/Muslims/Feminazis/Shape-shifting illuminati lizardmen/etc.

You mean, if I moved to the States, married a crack whore and lived on a farm in buttfucknowhere with only meth addicts for neighbours, it probably wouldn't help me develop positive feelings towards the country? Really? Man, that's another dream shattered.

You can have the Farang ghettos - Isaan is the bomb!

Though, can't discount CM for a little getaway for a few days and BKK for shopping, business, etc.

A bit over simplified, but I get your point and agree to a certain extent.

Thats where I disagree. I live in a semi rural area, with ever increasing social problems (successive government social engineering). For the most part, I have very little interaction with these types in my personal life, which is just how I like it. When im in Thailand, its almost impossible to avoid these types unless one is constantly in high end sanitary places. I`m guessing its all down to that greng jai attitude that encourages these people. All that said, over the years, I have noticed more intolerance towards these types.

I agree with that. Most people who don't like Thailand just leave early on. There are plenty of happy people here and everywhere in the world. Some people are never happy no matter where they are. You can't blame people for not being happy. I don't think it's a choice for everyone. If you aren't happy, you should try to figure out why. As for Thailand, as you said, it has its good and bad points. I enjoyed it much more when I was younger and out there enjoying the wine, women and song. I was happier then but now I'm not doing any of that stuff now. While enjoying myself in the past, I didn't focus as much on the negative aspects stick out more. The party is over for me so I'm starting to think about other possibilities and there are many. Thais often ask me which country I like more, Thailand or my home? I tell them they are about the same most of the time, they have their good sides and bad sides. After reading a lot of posts by expats here, I would guess most probably feel the same way.

It depends on the topic. Most I read on here is negative toward Thais. Some members even have the crass to refer to them as monkeys. And the news thread. Most news regarding Thais is met by instant criticism of them without any objective analysis of the news story.

You must be seeing something that I am not.
