I must admit, I align with many (not all) of Bob's comments, but I think without doubt that this forum would be a much poorer place without posters of Bob's knowledge.

I also accept the comments re potential litigation and prosecution for LM, and it's neglible impact for posters not domiciled in Thailand.

However, there should be a balance between the freedom of expression that Teak Door champions (?), and that of a moderation regime that denies it's posters a legitimate form of genuine dialogue on what is/are local subjects and points of interest.

There was a time when these sensitive and taboo references were just deleted and the member taken aside [PM].....as there are round-about cryptic posts that still go on from the usual strong political type, including myself. We understand that there are things that can't be suggested, in a blatant manner. Even the hints bring on paranoia.

For all his minor faults, DrBob tends to be a little more vocal towards these subject matters - regardless - he should know better.

That doesn't discount the fact that Ed is an intelligent, informative, and worthy long-time contributor to this forum - especially regarding his insight and knowledge of Thai history and contemporary affairs.

I believe a scolding would have been in order, instead of a jailing or sub-forum censor. Just created a martyrdom here.

Forums like this will wither without intelligent and subjective input. There are few of these types left to balance out the loons, extremists, non-sequitur trolls, petty bickering cunts, etc.

It's not like DrBob is a newbie or the same old multinik and doesn't know better, but a highly respected and long-time contributor requires a different look - not treated as a raving maniac [we have those].
