I got a reminder from Google pics that 5 years ago today I was off my tits in some bar in Manizales, Colombia, knocking shots back and speaking bad Spanish.

That was messy.

A year ago I was in Aarhus, Denmark, cos Flixbus had a cheap route there from Berlin, which I'd decided to take a train to from Krakow instead of flying home, and a flight back to London was only 15 Euros with Ryanair. Ended up staying sober for a few days, running around the port and in the parks....and getting absolutely trashed in some local boozer the day before my flight back.

Oh well.

Ten years ago I can't remember, but it would have been Malaysia somewhere.

One year ago, I had just done a twin hike (Mt Maynoba & Mt Cayabu) in Rizal province, near Metro Manila.

Five years ago, I had just arrived from a short trip to Puerto Galera (it was my 2nd trip there).

Ten years ago, my father had just died (in early April). I was grieving but I also had to prepare for the US visa interview. (Davis Knowlton gave me tips.) I got a 10-year visa and then I had to prepare for the US trip. It was work-related (with a side bit of tourism) and couldn't be postponed.

One year ago I was in Wuhu, China for the delivery of a new tanker from the shipyard. I had a really bad cold but it wasn't Covid - according to the ATK tests
Five years ago I was on a tug boat in Tanjung Pelepas, Malaysia and had a delicious lunch cooked by the Indonesian crew onboard. It looks like a spicy oxtail stew.
10 years ago I was in Fuzhou, China for the delivery of a new offshore supply vessel from the shipyard there. The coach we were on transporting us to the shipyard had a little crash.

50 years ago I transitioning from the Navy to go to work for crazy Howard Hughes. Moving from Vallejo CA, where I was training folks, to LA where Hughes offices were located. Was there a year, then off to Singapore to be part of com satellite sales team.

Didn't know much about satellites but no problem as I was handsome, had a 3 piece suit, a passport and most importantly a gift of gab to get folks to do and buy stuff they really didn't need.

Tizme got me thinking, mislaid old passports but was always on the move 14 places as a kid and in my youth travelling all the time, glad I did it with hardly a visa, buy ticket on the plane etc, Approx places not sure exact months but have dodged winter since 1979, basically European summer winters here Oz or warmer states
