20 years ago this battle cruiser would have been packed, a pile of coins on the pool table as a reservation marker for the players.
The furniture would have been well worn.
The bimbo hairdressers would have been pissed and coping of with the builders.
There might have been the odd fight and plenty of arguments.
A thick haze of cigarette smoke would have hung in the air.
The atmosphere now has gone, but the beer still tastes good..

Still the odd nutter about, although we're a dying breed just like the UK suburban Pub industry..

Try returning in the evening and I’m pretty sure it will be all that minus the smoke. Particularly on a weekend.

^^that is an industrial strength pair of spectacles you are sporting there Joe. I am only now getting the nic reference

I would also recognise that tongue anywhere (which feels a bit strange when I think about it)

Last of the 4 Pines Pacific Ales. This a solid beach beer for rehydrating the parts other beers cannot reach after a 4km pound along the sand.

Little Creatures Pale is more a heavier evening ale so wait till the sun is touching the horizon.

Its Friday, it's hot and the skimpy outfits are on!

A well earned Balters Captain Sensible to kick off this evening at the beach bar.

So named due the very moderate and sensible 3.5% ABV

    What are you drinking today?-img_20220824_191117-jpg

    Quite a complex little number.

Pungent citrus floral notes dancing over sharp bitter thirst-throttling hops.

    Reminiscent of Balter's esteemed XPA

Another winner from the local Gold Coast craft brewers.

I find those citrus notes refreshing on the first taste. Then they get tiresome, at the UK beer festivals I'd take a half of one of those then move on. And on ....

Monteith's Black, an adequate dark ale in Wellington NZ three days before flying home

    What they say:
    5.2%
Crafted from a blend of five premium malts to create a complex depth of flavours with dominant coffee notes. Crisper than sweet darks and smoother than harsh stouts. Perfect for the moment when you step in from the cold.
Food Match: Great with oysters, freshly smoked eel or blue cheese.

A chicken tikka, rice and butter nan in a pretty box, and a bottle of Syrah from Red Mountain vineyard, near Inle Lake. The equivalent of 382 baht in total
