The sun has set, so I’m enjoying a single malt now.

It seems a bit unconvincing to just say 'a single malt'.

I've never seen you post 'I bbq'd some meat'.

Well, you lied on the food thread.

And you've also stopped greening me since I could no longer stand it and had to point out what a complete twat panama hat is.

    That's what really hurts, tbh.

But yeah 'I'm drinking a single malt'

Said by absolutely nobody who's drinking a single malt.

    Ever.

The early models evolved through many variants into the more potent F8, powered by the larger Derwent 8 turbojet. The F8 formed the bulk of RAF fighter command in the early 1950s. This silver example is in Australian service with RAAF 77 squadron during the Korean war where it acquitted itself honourably against the more technologically advanced MiG-15.

Battle of Sunchon (air) - Wikipedia

There was an intermediate F6 prototype variant designed with swept wings, to catch up with the MiG-15 and F-86 Sabre but it never took off and the clipped wing option, as seen on this F8, was as aerodynamic as the Meteor ever got.

The Rolls Royce Welland unit pictured here still works and is the oldest working jet engine in the world.

Although I am not sure if you can actually hitch this trailer to the back of your vintage Austin 1100 to make it go faster!

Plus my boys went to a Birthday Bash yesterday ... heaps of yummy cheeses left over and they were going to throw them out (yes, they are that rich (sigh)) so a perfect accompaniment to the wine as I watch the All Blacks rip the Wallabies another hole in Perth.

I've woofed down the Red Leicester and the Camembert yesterday. Currently just polishing off the Double Brie and a harder, drier (more crumble) cheese (drier than a Cheedar, less than a Parmesan ... maybe a Manchego??) with black pepper corns and fennel seeds.

    All divine.

Happens once a year and I'm making the most of it

Famous Grouse for me tonight. Having returned to Teakdoor it would be silly of me to drink anything which was of a high standard. Dross suits posters here and I am keen to become one of the herd once again. Nothing snobbish about me, happy to be of the gutter in order to comply with the norm to be found here.

The boxheads were the other main contenders in the early jet propulsion race, until the war's conclusion ended their efforts

The Heinkel 162 on the right was made of wood towards the end of the war as supplies dwindled.

The Messerschmidt 163 Komet on the right was the only rocket powered fighter aircraft ever produced in aviation history.

Indeed - the programme has some great footage inc the test flights and interview with the designers daughter. Some great footage of the Vulcan howl, not given to emotion but the fact it was het last flight left a lump in my throat.

    Both on the right?

Very nice. Was that one of the ones you brought back from the US trip or did you find it in Thailand? I don’t think I’ve seen anything like that around.
