Basement bargain bubbles - not fit to share a thread with Manda's Dom Perignon
This cute little French 1916 Nieuport-11 is fitted with 8 of the the world's first air-to-air missiles.
They were firework-like rockets designed to attack german Zeppelins and observation balloons with incendiary charges. They were so inaccurate that the pilot had to get within a 100m of the giant airship before firing. They were fired electronically from the cockpit (so the pilot did not have to climb out onto the wing with his zippo lighter).
I tried the "new" Chang Espresso tonight. God it was awful. Black Dragon from the same brewery is marginally better.
Yes I know they are both local swill but sometimes.......
I could not walk past Licor Cuarenta y Tres on sale at $45
Splash of bubbles to celebrate a chance to stockpile my favourite liqueur
The cute little Nebelwerfer on the left was one of the first ever battlefield rocket launchers. Designed by those rocket-scientist boffin-boxheads right at the start of WWII.

I really enjoyed the Thatchers gold when I bought it for a taste on special at 4 tins for $12 and have been watching for it to come back to that price
ice cold it is a very nice drop and I would love to try it on tap
then I noticed that 24 cans at $74 is basically the price I was buying 4 cans on special - so off I went to uncle dans
Having a nightcap of Baileys and ice, listening to this clan who perform nightly from their living room somewhere in California.
A lovely lady dropped in for a sat'day evening BBQ in a Range Rover Evoque. I embarrassed myself by pronouncing it Evok to rhyme with Baroque when apparently it is Evoke
She brought a chilled bottle of sparkling moscato to share. I have never had moscato before to my knowledge but it is poovetatstically delish with its light bubbles and sweet dessert palate
But that is not the drink I am posting about... she also brings a 12 year old single malt 47%ABV just for little old me...
Never heard of it but it gets some good right ups
A fair trade for some burnt snags
Yeah a very good trade, but I reckon those burnt snags will be write up her alley!
^At the end of the day, and despite best efforts, I was unable to seal the deal on the special secret sausage with Evoque-lady Mendip.
But the rules of the game state that in this situation you can still claim the whisky.
Yes, that's yours to keep
Would you just look at the rich amber solar spectroscopy on this fine specimen
Trying this beer for the first time out by the pool.

Iron Balls Gin - Thai gin reviewed on Gin Foundry
"It’s not really gin as we know it and if this was made in the UK, we’d have written it off as a “Hoxton Gin Version 2.0”. However, it’s important to remember that it’s Thai gin and that it’s trailblazing in a country that hasn’t ever really had a deep rooted passion for the spirit. Something different, loud and distinct may well be what gin needs out there to ignite interest in the category."
^ You thought I was talking about the gin?
Hey, The phone is the room service Phone. I never pay attention to the things. It may not even work, lemme check. I heard a weird sound. It has a lot of damn buttons that's for sure. Apparently this place has a Butler
Back to the Iron Balls. Interesting stuff. Pricey as hell for what it is ( However it is in a hotel Mini bar which we know is marked up 1000% most likely).
I just went out and picked up a Woodford Reserve Double Oaked Bourbon and a box full of various beers as the wife and I will head off to an island for 4 days or so after I finish business here in BKK.
I will take a picture of the Phone in the room for Lulu since he seems quite interested in them.
