I had a flying visit back home last week and enjoyed some fine alcoholic beverages while I was there; these two Robinsons ales being two of the very best.

What are you drinking today?-20221112_151625-jpgWhat are you drinking today?-20221112_161538-jpg

And both coming in at quite a bit less than 4 English pounds each. My mate's (and my missus') Stowford Press cider substantially more.

We used to get large bottles of Stowford Press down here, distributed by Bob the Towel from Fluid Asia (?).

Not sure what happened with that connection.

I'm trying to get away from the Leo / Ya Dong habit so thought I'd treat meself to a nice bottle of gin to celebrate the World Cup.

Today at Makro I picked up a full litre for around 450 odd Baht (from memory) which was significantly cheaper than the bottle of Gordon's that I bought from Villa Market on Sukhumvit last week, and that was only 750 cl.

Anyway, every b@stard one of our lemons seem to have this disease inside. I resorted to limes... but the same.

Does anyone know what this is? I'm gonna have to get a Jiffy lemon tomorrow by the looks of things.

^^ Yeah, maybe I've become a bit fussy while living in Isaan.

I'll cut out the nice bits and stick them in my drink!

^ I must admit KT that I haven't noticed them at 7-Eleven. I'll take a look around tomorrow.

My ex worked for Bob. He ended up going back to UK for a hip operation, but had to live with his mum for six months before he was eligible for NHS treatment. Ex Sapper I think?

Yeah it's about 500 in BKK. I drink it with 7 Up cos I'm a classy bastard.

Or lemon sprite if I can't find 7 up which doesn't seem to be sold in Villa or 7 11.

And while we're on the subject I haven't seen a Bacardi Breezer for months.
I'd like to see what morning looks like
Don't wanna drink pint after pint
I wanna wake up without feeling sick
    But I can't cuz I'm a drug-abusing alcoholic

Anything, absolutely anything taken from shelves or optics behind the bar will do the same to you.

Experience (mostly bad) has told me to stick to beer.

spirits are largely confined to the past, gin aside. I didn't much like spirits, now its a beer or two or the odd bottle of red. summertime is G&T by the pint. The bolloxs about sipping spirits and that snubbery.......pfft - and fuk scotch et al, ghastly stuff.

Still each to their own. Much like Dill and Chitty thinking they are sophisticated drinking Ital Lager pish and paying a premium to wet the bed.

Totally disagree Mike. A few beers during a hot day by the pool watching some games is perfect. A nice pour in the evening is quite enjoyable. A good Bourbon or Rye Whiskey or Vodka on the rocks. Of course an Old Fashion or Manhattan is a refreshing mix as well.

But as you said, to each his own. Wine to me is God awful stuff and it is far more a snob drink then any liquor available.

    Those times has long gone.

Together with golf and tennis being sports for the rich.

Wine enthusiasts can be unbearable, but I guess the same goes for stamp collecters, tequila aficionados etc etc

I really like red wine, but my body doesn't.

Having grown up in Napa Valley the incredible level of wine snobs is amazing. To sit at dinner parties and watch people sniff corks, insist on private taste in front of the table guests then brag to the table it's incredible, is highly obnoxious. Then you have the silly rules of what wine to eat with what food.

I eat and have a relaxing pour and no complications. Tequila, Bourbon, Whiskey drinkers don't do that crap.

Oh man. In California wine is always argued or discussed at dinner. I love when you sit at the table and the waiter/waitress comes out with a white napkin draped over their arm. They gently spin the bottle so the person ordering the bottle can approve. Then the bottle opening, the cork sniffing, the small pour in the glass. Then comes the big swirl to let it gather some air, then the taste while everybody at the table waits for the approval. FFS.

I have excused myself many a time as that display is about to happen. Then I return and order a Bourbon or Whiskey and guess what, it goes with every meal served.

^ in the same way i worked for MI5 and the SAS according to you. Your trouble, much like your square head mate is you both live in fantasy land, that coupled with an obvious mental infirmity leaves you finding the line is blurred between reality and the lala land that exists between your ears - it also explains why both of you come across as having a mental age just north of Lulus daughter.

I would only experience such snobbery........once.

Easy way to sort out your acquaintances.
