I've been in an unusually and very unIsaanlike buoyant mood today, and Klong Toey made me realise why.

I'm outta here tomorrow! I haven't spent time in the UK over the summer for 20 years and I'm gonna arrive in a heatwave. But not an unbearably humid, bollock-sweating heatwave with the smell of plastic rubbish being burnt... an English summer heatwave with long evenings and news on the TV I can understand. Just look at the colour of the sky on Klong Toey's picture... azure blue. I just can't wait.

I may be biased but I really can't think of a better place in the world than southern England during a nice summer. But first I have a bottle of Ya Dong to finish off. It doesn't keep. And I have to say I will really miss Yogi - he's been great company these last two weeks.

As is a whole swath of the west coast most summers. Mariposa Grove Yosemite full of sequoia trees is burning as I type.
