How is the mood in your Ban?

It's gotten darker in my usually apolitical Ban (we are a democrat constituency, incidentally). It worries me.

Is it just mine? What is happening among the real people in Thailand?

The usual. No fuss. About all I hear is how stupid politicians are. Nothing new.

Farmers not happy though. They want their cash.

Very Yellow here in Rayong apparently. A lot of military-related people live in our moo baan, but not much discussion with people outside the clique / cadre.
Probably relishing the prospect of getting stuck into those peasants in Bangkok, I reckon. Doing what they do best.

Radios blasting aggressive political speeches for the last few weeks have been turned off in the moo ban. I've not ventured to ask why things have suddenly gone quiet.

Locals are glued to news channels instead of soaps. Quite a few making regular trips up to BKK to support the protests.
This is Suthep country after all.

I see an election poster has appeared today...photo of Yingluck and some local hero....with a big 1X beside his name. This is solid red country. I don't think the other parties even bother to challenge any more......but then the Democrats (Sutrep version) don't want any kind of open contest do they. Royal councils and all that...

Otherwise there is not a ripple....Bankok is like the other side of the world and everybody who lives there is nuts.... and yellow....

Nothing happening where I live, but that's normal. I doubt they'd stir even if someone nuked the local grog shop.

Heard yesterday that quite a few housewives on our place have been offered free trips to Bangkok to join in the fun, frolics, and general fukcwittery, sponsored by local Yellow shirt type people.
One guy has told his missus if she goes to Bangkok, not to bother returning.. Could get interesting.

Heard same here. Can't believe all you here but here's the story.

Offer 10,000 baht per week. Upon agreeing, ID cards confiscated. Folks that went got 10k as promised for only first 2 weeks. Then reduced to 3,500 per week. Those unhappy with reduced pay can't leave unless do so without ID card. Fear reprisal if they leave.

The farmers were compensated per rai for bad crop here at the beginning of December. Those that usually go to BKK for seasonal work (usually construction) are going to Chiang Mai instead.

Most predicted that Yingluck Government would be ousted just like the ones before and are not really surprised. Stoic acceptance is the general mood.

Same same, fuking dogs barking, bastards playing music too loud, nobody gives shit about anything apart from themselves and their family. Idiots actually think Thaksin or Suthep are the problem instead of the corrupt nepotistic ass licking system that sicked them up.
