Onto day 3 now.
Even went out and got larupped last night without capitulating.
Pretty easy this quitting smoking game I reckon.

All it takes is iron will-power and dogged determination...Good luck.
What are tabs?
Are you saying you're doing a DJ Pat and avoiding paying your bills from now on in? I can lend you 500 baht if times are that hard.
The answer's in the OP betty if you read it again CAREFULLY.
Take it you're not British then.Originally Posted by Bettyboo

yep
I went 9 months the first time - cold turkey
but one excuse led to another and though I may not smoke as much , I still do
My TGF told me for about 1 1/2 years to stop & told her I'm not ready.
I wanted to stop but was not ready until I was ready in my own mind.
When I was ready I stopped, when out drinking had the urge for a smoke.
I put 1 siggy in my pocket & when that urge came around, put the siggy under my noise a quick snif then put the siggy back in my pocket. 3 years ago.
You can do it Dillinger.
Continuing to be on the wagon, even after having had a few drinks, shows that you have the willpower. Though it's a physical addiction, it's also largely in the mind. If people give in and start again, no-one forces them to....it's just themselves rationalizing.
Good on you for having the inclination and willpower to give it up, mate. Keep reminding yourself of what it can do to you in the long run.
I'd also suggest keeping yourself busy doing something, perhaps something new. And reward yourself occasionally at various milestones with other treats.

Americans call them gags, I thought the brits called them fags, never heard them called tabs before either.
Keep up the good work mr dill. After the initial physical addiction passes it's mostly about making a decision not to be a smoker. It might take a while for the cravings to go away. It took five years for me. I'm really glad now I made the effort. I've been off them for over 20 years now. I was a pack a day+ Gauloise/ Lucky Strike/Camel straight/Gitane/English Oval/Drum smoker, my fingers were orange.
Does tab originate from Geordie-land?
Anyway, that first-thing-in-the-morning-taste will linger for a while yet. Get rid of it with mouthwash or toothpaste or Durian as soon as you get up is one trick that worked for me.
I've heard many people say that the thought of a gasper never stops but it did for me and pretty quickly...second or third week.
Cold turkey is the only way to go.
Get an e-cigarette, best investment I ever made.
Once you've stopped smoking things like Oranges start to taste like Oranges.
But the best thing to come out of stopping is your hair, skin, breath and clothes don't stink anymore!
Thanks for all the well wishes. To be honest, I've had this flu, burning eyes, coughing my left lung up, kind of symptoms for about 5 days now, which kind of forced it on me really I am gonna stay off them now though.
I have also noticed , these cravings only come after I stop eating. So popped out and did some shopping
send the nipper back with the trolley later
Eat your heart out Betty
I like the look of those Marshmellows!
That makes sense, Dil does like to suck on a fag, and he has been trying to give then up and stay hetero for a while...Originally Posted by Mr Earl

Yes, when you're sick is a good time to stop, as you can sometimes get your subconscious mind to associate the unpleasant feelings of the sickness with smoking.
Well done, Dill. Keep it up!
