Do you have an exit plan or do you not GAShit

ain't looking that great is it?

Do you have a contingency plan or are you not bothered? Depends where you live and family ties etc I guess?

    - home country with you and yours?
    - Pointy sticks and fresh fruit at a stockade around your home?
    - neighboring country?

Not that I think civil war is imminent so somewhat complacent but would probably hightail it to Malaysia ..then Singapore maybe and then OZ..no frickin Rambo me...

I'm increasingly thinking of going back to London, and the missus, for the first time in 13 years, asked me a couple of days ago if I'd consider taking us to England for a couple of years...

Other than that, I would like to live/work in Japan for a couple of years.

Nah, unless the Baht gets silly I think I'll stay put.
Could get interesting in Bkk but not so much in the provinces. My local Mom and Pop shop only survives because I'm the only farang in the village. They built an extension an the back of my custom alone this year. (Tarpaulin and plastic tables 'n everyfing).

    Civil war, indeed...

Some don't really have much knowledge nor are connected to much.

It is a none event out here in the sticks.
The only crisis they all remember is the 70's when the whole village where packed and ready to flee to BANGKOK.
The army trucks and tanks racing through village and Thai airforce fighter jets flying over and the sound of explosions as the Thai army stopped those nut cases in black pyjamas bringing the Khmer fight over the Cambodian border into the Cambochean refugee camps.

Make sure you buy her a car and send us daily updates of the bodywork. I reckon it would look like this after a couple of weeks.

Por was in the Thai army at the time and said it was the Vietnamese that they were supposed to be fighting against (the Thai government were pro-Khmer Rouge). He said he couldn't bring it upon himself to kill a fellow human, so spent most of his time trying to avoid direct conflict.

Agree. No need to plan an evacuation. Things in the big mango will get nasty for awhile. This too shall pass. About the only "exit" strategy would be to make sensible financial decisions based on protecting ones assets related to currency and economic impacts of political unrest.

Tbh after being involved in this build now for about 10 weeks it wouldn't bother me if I went home tomorrow instead of the end of March.

I'm about done in with getting people to do work for me then doing something completely different they thought I might like.

If after I go home it kicks off and it ends up with sporadic pockets of bomb attacks here and there I won't be coming back, what the wife does is up to her, I'm past caring now I've done my best.

I'll be in India so whatever innit.

Anyway Ive been here for 3 Coups so far so this is business as usual.

Farangs never have problems unless they are stupid enough to involve themselves in the situation.

Tbh I have always fancied myself as a bit of a post apocalyptic rebel leader.

I watched nearly all the tv shows and movies about it and think I'll be able to handle myself with a sword or cross bow when the bullets run out. If it comes to the worst I think I'll stay and convert my Mazda 2 into a Mad Max style machine in which I'll roam the country and make my living in bare knuckle fist fighting.

Having watched news reports for decades there is nothing more than what British Politicians love than to greet a load of civilians arriving back in the U.K after being rescued by British forces in a Banana state.
Just sip the Gin and tonic, and the British Embassy will no doubt will have the evacuation calmly taken care of.
    God save our Queen.

Although currently in the states I have been there for a few of these deals and it is only a bother if you live in and near BKK. Outside that you are almost completely insulated from it. You only know of it if you watch the news. I was in BKK for both of them and even then it was pretty small area affected. Of course the Yellow shirt Swampypoo deal was only an inconvenience as I was to fly back to the US for the company and could not get there. So I just stayed in longer.

So answering your question, if I was there I would not GASheit. Just do your thing.

All the crap is happening in a strange land down south. It's like an episode of Game of Thrones. Those few of our local villagers that might want to be involved know where the bus stop is, but I can't see there being much trouble here.

I'm planning on moving out to a big isolated compound, and starting my own cult. My followers will comprise of mainly nubile teenage girls, and to avoid any clothes-colour political affiliation-sillyness, they will wear none.
