Thread: Thai navy..pandoras box?

Seems the Thai Navy is entering into litigation against Graham at Phuketwan and others re Rohingya reports.
Methinks that perhaps they have a opened up a can of worms ... if Graham manages to get support from BBC et al.a few smart lawyers could dig up so much documented corruption, present witnesses and documented evidence of actual events......?

So good luck Graham, we may not agree with all your ed comments but the exposure may actually help the Rohingya and your on the ground crusade on their beyhalf.

Perhaps it is likely that given the "run away" mentality this litigation may be withdrawn?

Remember its a Thai court.

Hopefully, the Thai Navy and the Computer Crimes Act get the international attention they deserve.
Phuketwan and Graham (and the Rohingyas) getting the benefit.

Thai defamation laws make no allowance for whether what is printed is true or not.
Until the item is proven in court, it is still defamation.
The lawsuit won't deal with the truthfulness of your claim, just the defamation aspect of it.

Ok TIT..... but if any media reports criminal activity ....are you suggesting that ipso facto then the offender could sue the media for deformation regardless if they are culpable?..I do hope not?

You can report factually, but you can't make allegations.
You could report that police have charged Mr Sombat with murdering Mr Somachai, but you can't say "Our reporters have uncovered that Sombat was the person responsible for the unsolved Somchai murder", even if you have proof.

This is why there is no investigative journalism in Thailand.
