Just Got Stung By One Of These

Just got stung by one of these fuckkers.

I had my door and windows open all day and it came in and was buzzing around the light for a bit. I went out for awhile and came back and it was gone. Spent quite a few hours in my room with no more sightings of it.

Laid down to bed and and was almost asleep when I rolled over and got zapped on the shin.

It felt like a little pin pricked me and wasn't too shocking, but it's fucking throbbing now and a bit swelled up.

I think the Thai word for it is "Dtua Dtor".

Anybody else been hit by them? How long does the pain last and how did you treat it? I rubbed some tiger balm on it.

Been there, done that- twice in the foot, and (at a different time) twice in the chest while riding my bike. In my case it hurt-like-hell when it happened and faded later- you might have a slight allergy to it. Tiger Balm helps.

That'll wake you up in the morning.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Good luck with it Picked and thanks for the heads up.

I'm a bit green here yet so didn't know they bit.

There is one lives / visits just under the facia boards where I sit in the day and paint, it's wings make a tidy old drone, will be more aware, cheers.

...have lots of those around when I hang a bunch of bananas..luckily not aggressive at all...guess you musta pissed it off ...yup tiger balm type topical application is about the best and perhaps the only option for all the bug stings methinks. My old mum usedto put baking soda on stings..have not tried it here maybe effective?

You are doomed. Probably best try to amputate the leg before the flesh-eating toxins travel to your major organs..

Ahem. Once trod on one of these big bastards with no shoes on. It was dying on the floor and I didn't see it. It stung a little bit and my foot swelled up a bit for a couple of hours, but no serious pain or problems.
Apparently, its the little fuckers (that nest under the roofs of your house) that can cause the major pain.

Got 1 in my ear 3 days ago while riding, just inflamed a bit & sore, it was slightly painfull at 1st for a couple of hours, a good reminder to always wear glasses while riding as 1 in the eye would be unplesant!.

These are Hornets. The sting will have varying effects on people. Some its deadly, others it s a swell up and itch from the venom. These hornets typically like protein and their nests can get quite large if left alone. They are extremely aggressive when you near their nest. I had 2 of these nests on the property I rented in Cha'am. When a queen leaves they will not drift to far which is why you can have a few in close proximity.

While I only had a few close calls with them, I destroyed the nests. It was not worth the risk to neighbors and guests.

No, it's a wasp, just larger than the more numerous paper wasp. I've seen one-banded wasps ocassionally, but never their nests or more than one, seem to be rare around Pattaya. The paper wasp is this one,

and it did this to me more than once,

even worse than the guy on the pic. I was watering the plants last week and something stung me in a finger when I was over the cactii, I first taught I touched a thorn. Then the finger started to swell and itch, aww crap, again. Run to the fridge for the anti-histamine, but too late. Next morning the hand looked like a blown-up rubber glove. Back to normal after two days.

    Rainfall,
These are "lesser banded" Hornets and not wasps.

It will keep you awake at night too. I couldn't get to sleep until about 8am.

It's actually a "greater banded" hornet and a hornet is part of the wasp family, hence the name "vespa".

I thought from then pic it was the same as a duo that stung me at my house in Pranburi. I accidentally went too near to where they were building a nest. Hurt like hell - one of the worst stings I'd had, but gone by the next day.
