    Humanity can't handle science

Comet ISON is coming and the internet is filled with the end of the world, Niburu, alien invasion, and big cover ups. Looking at You Tube, the nutters are out in full force, but the odd thing is that they are getting more "likes" than "dislikes". People believe these nut cases?

Comet ISON is just a hunk of rock and ice and its path has no way of coming close to earth no matter how it breaks up behind the sun. It's just physics. The amount of crap on the internet outpaces the good science by at least 100 to one. Come February, this is going to be as big a deal as Y2K was!

It gets more likes because nutters seek out such crap while rational people ignore it.

I've quite a few of those now useless lead film bags. You know, the ones used to protect photographic film from airport X-rays. Maybe I could fashion them into hats. Must work better than tin foil.

There's always something to cause anxiety and disruption it seems. First we had ENRON, now we have ISON....and this Nibiru thingy.. I suppose I'd better dump my stock holdings before the end of the year. This sounds bigger than Y2K.....and the markets just can't handle a planetary collision after all the other shit that's happened....

    No they don't.

Try these, they're like the opposite of a tin foil hat.

It is not so much humanity can't handle science it is that unscrupulous and greedy people thrive in a situation of uncertainly. It is gambling and if you guess correctly or manipulate correctly then you can gain. Y2K was just that!

This is just the latest version.

I'll get my deckchair and a case of beer ready. If it all ends, well.....
Better to think inside the pub, than outside the box?
I apologize if any offence was caused. unless it was intended.

Don't be surprised that people believe that junk, some still insist 911 was an inside job.

    I think there's a thread on it.

I love watching those documentaries with people who build bunkers and fill them up with food and water waiting for the acropolis.

Mad as silly menopausal cat women.

The problem is the more of those you watch the more you start believing the nutters. So i bought a large can of ravioli the other day.

I agree, they're worse than the ones waiting for the apocalypse.

For thousands of years there have been doom sayers scaring people that "The end is nigh" The new testament in the Bible is one of the worst offenders. Jehovah Witnesses are one of the foremost offenders of this ArmIgedingit story.
The end of the world comes to us all when we die,no matter what it is that kills us in the end.

I would love to meet some of the ones that are sitting there waiting for the world to end and just look at the despondance on their faces.

There are people that sell up everything and live in their bunker cave homes. And they are so serious, it just hits the funny bone with me.

    Each to their own.

Me, the fact that i taught Social how to send a letter will take me to my other life. Full of flowery meadows and gambolling goats.

    the end has nighed

Comet ISON plunged towards the Sun today and didn't emerge to tell the tale.
That's the verdict from NASA and Comet-watchers.

    Humanity?
    Science?

Yet, isn't science, per se, a human-centric fabrication?

Just like a woman, to be thinking of fashion and hats during a crisis.

    When's the wedding misskit?
