BTW, I'll be 50 in 6 years and none of my tats will be anywhere near the stage you've described - maybe when I'm 80.

Weirdly enough, I'm happy with the way my body and face are aging. They're doing pretty well, IMO. Sure they're older, but I'm quite happy to accept that.

fact is, whilst tattoos on young flesh might be considered attractive by some, tattoos on the elderly just look plain silly.

i read today that david dimbleby, of bbc question time fame, has, at age 72, fulfilled a lifelong ambition and had a tattoo done, a scorpion on his shoulder.

what is the world coming to ???

Would you deny him the chance to fulfill a lifelong ambition?

the fact that at 75 years old, he feels he needs to inform the world "ive got a tattoo" tells you all you need about the former "top of the form " presenter.

dimblebum didnt research his tattoo very well.

    By Rosa Silverman1:44PM GMT 12 Nov 2013
    Daily Telegraph UK

The scorpion tattoo on the shoulder of the broadcaster David Dimbleby shoulder is sometimes used as a warning sign in the gay community to signal someone has HIV.

The Question Time presenter, 75, decided on the image because Scorpio is his star sign and joked that the little scorpion was “ready to attack my enemies”.

But, perhaps unbeknown to him, it is also one of several hazard signs used by gay men to tell others they are HIV positive.

The stinging tail of the scorpion is said to represent the virus.

Other HIV warning tattoos include biohazard symbols, radiation symbols and red AIDs ribbons.

Some HIV sufferers get a tattoo as soon as they have been diagnosed while others may wait a while.

David Dempsey, clinical director at the Alexian Brothers Bonaventure House in Chicago, told CNN: "It's to let other men know that they're HIV-positive so that they don't have to come out and say it."

^ Unless he is a member of the gay community (in which case, I would assume he had researched it), I can't see that its meaning to them would matter very much.

Never had never will like tats.

The only ones that have any lasting earthly value are those done along the sides or top of the foot below the ankle.

They provide excellent instant confirmation of ID in cases of sudden and often explosive violent death.

Often the foot, clad in a boot, is the only recognizable remainder of a human, along with the pelvis and skull.

Those done on other ares sometimes survive, but rarely.

Grizzly info? Yes, but useful if you care for your loved ones' feelings after your sudden and usually unexpected demise.

OK, good thought. I have a red and white freesia and the words "Auld Wifey" in black on the top of my right foot, near my toes. I also have a black & grey candle with "forever" in English and the old Thai of "Da Lodt gang" going around my left ankle. If it ever comes to it, could someone identify me please? Cheers. I'll green you from wherever

At 70 I have a completely full head of white hair and beard. To dye it would be rediculous. The only cosmetic surgery I am considering is varicose veins on one leg. Looks like a bunch of knotted cords.

I took one of my friends to her facelift appointment today. She had barbed thread sewn under her skin to pull her face up using a local anesthetic. She said it hurt like a mofo and her face looked like a baboon's ass when she first came out of the surgery room. After they iced her down, she looked pretty good, had a few welts but I could see the lift. She puked in my car on the way home from the meds they gave her.

^Quite a few of the people you drive around appear to use your car as a toilet. You might want to look into that. Just saying......

Have to agree. Easier and cheaper just to turn around and say "By the way,......."

"This way up" on my foot might be useful for the occasions when I get legless.

Other than that, I don't care for them. Don't have any problems with people who do sport them but.....
