Thread: Ant Madness: Pick them out or eat them

I think I have finally broke and come to the point where I don't react to ants in the sugar or food. I used to pick them out but it's just gotten to annoying. Just eating the buggers with the food no matter how many are in the food might be the best thing to do. They don't change the taste. By ignoring this little annoyance, I may be moving on to greater daily happiness in this land of bugs.

Do you pick them out or just down them?

I usually explain to the ants that if they don't depart swiftly, they will be eaten.
Follow this with a jolt of the plate/bowl/cup.

The ants were warned and conscience is salved.

I've tried some of the anti-ant tricks but I've given up. We've got kids and the nieces and nephews are always in and out dropping crumbs so it's a difficult battle. I'm happy to try to move on. This doesn't mean I won't try to avoid the avoidable stuff. If they've made it in to food, I'm just not going to get frustrated by it. I still hate the buggers but life has to go on. Pretty much any food my wife cooks has some ants tossed in with any sugar she puts in. C'Est la vie!

Have you tried empathy with the ant?

If they get into the chips or crackers packages for example, I stick the bags in the freezer for a few hours - frozen ants are easy to get rid of.

The sugar bowl resides in the fridge 24/7.

You don't want them pissing on your cornflakes though!

I jus keep everything in the fridge. If anyone brings kids round they have to stay outside until they're old enough not to make a mess.

We buy the bigger ant eggs in Klong Toey market Gert makes a nice lemon grass based soup.

If I find any ants in the food then I throw the entire contents of the cupboards out, turn bright red, steam comes out of me ears then I start to stomp around screaming how I hate the country...

Ants only invade the sugar because the USA keeps invading Arab Countries .
If the US would stop bombing the Muslims back to the stone age, ants would then keep off the sugar

Accidentally ate a few of the little bastards when they crept into a bag of cashew nuts I had been snacking on.
One bit me in the mouth, and my throat and roof of my mouth swelled up and limited my breathing. I actually thought I was in trouble for about 1/2 hour.
