Has anyone wondered why the mods react the way they do to certain posts? Have they received threats to be shut down if posts become too anti-government? What does the government think about this site anyway?

What government?

So there is no fear of being shut down or blocked by what is posted here?
You really need to post more than a one word response Wasabi.
The elephant in the room. It says a lot about things here but at the same time isn't some order good? Personally, I am bothered when posts about the US are knocked but I have no problem with the local stuff being screened. Of course, I wish it weren't but if it weren't maybe the site would be blocked and that would be a major loss of posters. For across the board conversation TD seems to be the most open of the boards that I know. (PM me if I am wrong) Of course, there are the smaller boards that involve sex topics which are running but I kind of think those ban certain language about certain Thai topics. They survive the way the nightlife areas and all the pro survives. It all comes down to certain subjects. In the end even with some limitations, TD is not a bad place to be with the great information here.
It would be easy enough for the government to block TD if they wanted, and there are some pretty offensive sites that remain open so I cannot imagine TD has any problems.

Both good answers, and both sensible.
Speaking of Mods. The title of this thread has been changed. It used to be "Teak Door Told to Shut Down By Thai Government." There was no "If" in my title, but so goes the necessity of moderation.
well, you should have put the "if" in
Thailand is a democracy. Democratic governments do not control what the people say and think. Even Obama tried and failed.
And anyway, nobody in their right mind would take seriously what goes on at TD.
Never been called a tool before, but oh well.
How many threads have titles that are not fact anyway?

Firstly, I have never been called a tool before. I am not from the UK and have no idea of its connotation. I am assuming it is derogatory.
Secondly, there are many threads on this site that speak about TD and moderation and are not always factual.
They cannot even lock youporn correctly !

How much influence does this Forum have in the running of Thailand, how many Thais actually read it? TD is hardly going to start a revolution.
