I'm a weight lifter and a sportsman. I do one--outdoors--or the other--indoors--but the gym work takes up most of my time b/c of organizing, paying for and the travel involved in the outdoor activities I pursue. I call myself a "weight lifter" instead of a runner, let's say, b/c my gym work is in no way in preparation for any kind of competition. This is the way I put it re: my outdoor activities: I believe in the freedom of the hills (btw, that is the subtitle for the bible of American mountaineering, camping, rock climbing and survival in the great outdoors---not my original quote).

And I'm a believer in a 3 tier approach to indoor activities (i.e., fitness): flexibility (e.g. yoga), strength and endurance. So, at the moment, it feels right to focus entirely on endurance. For one thing, my body wasis going thru "shock" that I'm not actually going to take a day off from strictly running for 21 days. And, if you don't mix up your activities (I mean I take long walks to find a coffee shop, for example), then Shirley you're going to quit exercising out of sheer boredom. Sure, I could train for a 10k or half marathon but, likesay, I have no interest in just plain running: it's all about fitness. At some point, I expect to reintroduce weight training into my regimen.

But never have I been flexible enough to seriously consider that leg of the stool able to contribute support to my overall fitness. Bless all of you who have that kind of inspiration and physique. Believe me, it alone is enough to allow many, many women (and men) to get fantastic bodies. I have to take the hard route and, still, I don't have a fantastic body, OK?

And it's changed for the better, fitness wise! I would have guessed, on avg., the opposite would be true, what with the additional time constraints and sleepless nights. Mind you, can't speak to that experience personally but good on ya', esp. with the biking back in LOS.
