The background depends what sub forum you're on.

Try this for the pics, very helpful.
    (it's a white background)

That pictorial for a person who has never posted a picture before is clear as mud.

Its no easy feat trying to follow that friggin pictorial and that's why punters are using external sources to post pictures on this forum.

I'd try and help you but I at a loss how to explain it. I've posted Thousands of pics through the gallery but unless You where sitting next to me its a friggin dogs breakfast to put into words.

    Good luck with it.

By the way, The way Willy explains it ain't the way I do it.

On every other forum I am a member of after a certain number of posts you simply attach the picture from your computer to your posting and voila. TD is the only one that for some reason makes you upload pictures to a file storing site and then asks you to link to the site.
I for one can't be fcuked with all that fannying about so just don't post pictures.
I have asked a few times why not and as usual never received any answer.
Treat everyone as a complete and utter idiot and you can only ever be pleasantly surprised !

still lot of rigmarole to post a pic still methinks...why the need for a gallery
Would it be so hard to add a patch so we can just insert images..the insert image icon demands a URL..could it not just ask for a file location?
Or is it a major code rewrite?

Some said some posters use other means..care to share?

i just had aother go to no avail. I've uploaded the image to the gallery, clicked copy to location, clicked on the image icon and dont get the usual box asking for the url. also if i click on any of the icons in the bar such as smilies, bold etc they dont work either.

    they use photobucket etc ,
but at least on pb ,with a free acount , you have a bandwidth limit , which a lot of people looking at your photos eats up , and then the photo is replaced with an add to upload to pro.

    I use firefox ,
I open a 2'nd Td window and there locate the photo I want in the gallery ,
then click on it to make it bigger , then drag and drop , or copy and paste straight in into the reply box , not using the image icon .

The answer DD always gave was that uploading attachments to posts is a virus risk as you could upload anything.

    Yes....exactly.
    Hotlinking, non-compatibility issues, etc...

For the life of me, I can't understand how anyone can not figure out the TD gallery system.....it's not complex. Perhaps, there are a couple steps too many and once in a great occasion slow.

    Very straight forward.
    Even Fon figured it out.

When I attempted to use the Gallery many years ago I was foked if I could sort it out.

Anyway the boys had all sorts of fun talking the piss out of me but we worked through it in the Test section and I got it after banging away all friggin day.

If someone could link to that thread I'm sure it would help. I'd do it but I'm to stupid to find that Thread.

Thing is with the gallery, if each step ain't perfect your foked and until you suss where your going wrong its check mate.

Best to just try and post one picture at a time until you get a handle on it.

I still Ain't got a handle on it and post one picture at a time.

as you rightly say, nothing complex about using the td gallery system! been using it for a while with no problems.as i stated earlier for some reason when i click on copy image location and then click on the image icon in the post, the box asking for the url does not appear.have had a look around the control panel too see if i've unchecked something and i cant find anything out of the ordinary...stumped!

You don't need to click that box, here's a short cut mate.

Right click and copy picture location then type this into your reply box

Barrylad...I think I might know were you're going wrong?

When you click on the 'mountain icon' check at the top of the page that you do not have the message...

This website is using scripted window etc.....

If it does. Click and allow and then click mountain icon again!

    Hope this helps.
