I know this thread is supposed to be about Thai names.
BUT ... my ex once knew an arab with the name Mustapha Phart.
twins named Ae and Bee
kim kardashian (not really thai...)
her daughters name: NORTH
fathers last name: WEST
Someone called Turdtoon phoned me the other day. I had to put the phone down and compose myself before calling back.
A pretty young lass who came to work for me proudly announced that "My name is blah blah....my nickname is fuk" (as in pumpkin). I smiled and said I would call her "Blah". Saved me years of untold anguish I believe.
Everyone who works for me gets 1 name. Thats it. I have enough trouble remembering things as it is, so normally I go for their proper name.
As an aside, one of my recent staff acquisitions sports a surname with an amazing 18 letters in it.
I know two twins called Peach & Pear.
A good friend of mine owns a bar in Pattaya and he once said ' they change their names more than their underwear'.
Heard many 3 letter nics. but never a - fuk, kok, suk, lik or any other names that could be contrused as suggestive to the Western folk they hook up with.
Their long names don't exactly roll off the tongue so thank fcuk they do go with the nicknames.
Bless 'em.
Thank God my hubby doesn't have one of those huge last names. Now that I think of it, most of his relatives have pretty short last names. My first name is 7 letters, my maiden name is 7 letters and my married name is 7 letters. Nice and easy, but they way his name is spelled in Thai is the 'old' way, so it has extra letters in it.
Two kids in my class- Oil and Water. They didn't get on of course.
Another class had identical twins At and It. After 19 weeks I still couldn't figure out who was which! Both donkey dumb.
The little wurm next door is named I-Tim (Ice cream) and scream she does! The parents wanted to name her Facebook but the guys at the registration office said 'no'... Lucky kid!
Three kids in my wife's home village named Tesco, Makro and Carrefour.
I've known kids called one, two and three (the English words not the Thai equivalents).
Girl in my son's school called "oh-oh".
Not sure which of these is worst, possibly the supermarket names...
"Best" as in number 1
Oh I forgot the young baker who worked for me at Peppers in Ubon (still does) who just had a baby girl and called her Eclair.
Turdsak?
it does beat (tangmo)
but does it beat (fanta)?
I was on a Thai train once and i got chatting to some other Westen guy inbetween carts having a cig..
