Is that a steel rod in his left shin ?

Thanks for the laugh, Terry. I really should give up eating in front of the computer, though.
Wow, LT ! You are a lucky guy and must be proud of both your missus and daughter.
They are both lovely. My own wife has similar pixie-like looks, and we're planning to have a child next year.
Yep mate and extremely lucky as they are also lovely people.Originally Posted by Latindancer
Good luck with your plans and I hope the baby angel smiles on you both.
Anyway my wife has promised Shamus to organize a gala pie eating afternoon and once he has been released from hospital.
All are welcome and whoever fancies a pie and a few beers.
^ any sausage rolls ?
Hearing of accidents such as this makes me wonder if I made the right choice in ordering my bike. I've bought for commuting reasons only as the journey to and from work is a nightmare. Being a newish father is always in the back of my mind too.
Glad your mate is recovering well.

One question - is his name Shane or is it Shamus?
Based upon what Shane/Shamus has told me he has steel in there but the doctors have told him fok all.Originally Posted by Dillinger
Two complete fractures but the one of concern is just above his ankle.
He cannot move his ankle as yet but can move his toes which is a plus.
I would have thought they should have started with physiotherapy by now, moving his ankle around and getting everything working but nothing.
A bit of a worry with this lack of doctor/ patient communication.
His shiners have cleared up well, is his vision back to what it was pre-accident?
Hope to visit at the weekend if thats ok we will be back in Bangkok then.
Will pm you my phone number friday LT .
Get well soon Shane hope to see you saturday or sunday.
Whilst his eyeballs are still extremely red his eye sight is almost back to normal apart from some dizziness when standing up.Originally Posted by quimbian corholla

That would be great mate and a special thank you to Vocal Neal who has gone out of his way to visit Shane on many occasions delivering coffees, reading glasses and company.Originally Posted by klong toey

Thank fuck for him that neither is the case. Onwards and upwards.
How the fucking hell did this thread turn into a shit fight?
Shamus agreed that I post his personal experience on here, in fact requested I do so for the following reasons and to warn people;
1. Proper health and accident insurance is a must especially as he knew he was going to ride a bike here in Thailand.
2. If you are going to ride a bike check your accident insurance status as a lot of policies only insure up to riding a bike of 250cc. Shamus took the unlimited engine size option as he knew he was going to drive some big bikes and he was fully covered.
3. If you are going to travel long distances on a bike always be with friends. If he wasn't with Nedwalk he would have been in big shit.
4. When driving on a bike you are traveling at your own risk. It's a great way to see the country but the risks are certainly there even for the most experienced drivers.
We just arrived home from Bangkok and my wife promised to make me a roast chicken dinner.
On her way down to Foodland a bike come up the inside on her left, hit something on the road, lost control and slide underneath her car.
Lucky she was driving the Vios as if she was in the Hilux Vigo he would have been deaded, squashed like a tomato.
Yes, they're very dangerous things. I value my life. Most Thais seem to ride them because they're cheap and convenient going through traffic. Westerners seem to ride them for fun.
I sure hope it is titanium. They haven't used steel for ages in the states for that type of injury.Originally Posted by Loy Toy
It's an internet forum, even a nice thread about mates looking out for each other is going to attract thread-shitters sad to say.Originally Posted by Loy Toy
Big kudos to all those who have helped out the guy and it seems the mods have been diligent and cleaned up the crap in the thread.
Nice to see (HA!) that his eyesight is improving (sorry for the cheap shot Shane/Shamus), keep on keeping on getting better.
I'm sure it is mate and steel was probably not the right terminology used by myself.Originally Posted by bsnub
In fact Shane mentioned staples on the upper main bone and just above his ankle.
Both bones completely broken and we hope the full movement of his ankle will be possible.
He expects he may have a slight limp for a while but really he is so happy to be alive.
I didn't see most of it mate but you can bet your bottom dollar that there are supporters of bike riding and those that frown on it mainly due to bad past experience.Originally Posted by quimbian corholla
Personally I love riding bikes, it's one of my life long addictions, but my wife won't let me get on one especially after what happened today not to mention what happened to one of our friends.
Fuck, this is where I will come unstuck some day as I love to travel solo.
Jeez, not much can do about that innit, just die alone on the side of the road.
Anyway I'm no Orphan, many people prefer the solo road.
Whatever Eh, life's a gamble at the best of times.
The important thing is that Shamus gets back on the ride and carrys on.
Foking lucky he has Ned watching his back.
Your a good Dude Ned.
Cheers
Well LT, Why cant we just disappear into the hinterland behind Pattaya for an over night trip ??
Take some scooters and just have a nice day, Some nice country out there innit, be a good little trip with Ned and shamus.
No need to wank on about having big bikes, all about connecting.
See you in October I hope.
