Copy it to Google, you'll get a download.

Interesting article, but still nothing startling other than the specimen has a well formed, non-embryonic tooth (incissor/canine, lower jaw).

Nothing conclusive about its DNA mentioned either, nothing at all in fact other than a postulation that "DNA's millions of years old", but no clue otherwise.

DNA results and C14 dating would have cleared up lots of questions. The team's got oodles of material to test for DNA and C14, so what's their reticence in presenting results?
It only takes literally a few days to get DNA analised by a hospital or university or private lab.

I think when they x-ray the thing, the whole C14 dating is fucked

that's how they used to create fake artifacts with C14 dating,

Guess work might be more apt, as noted for some time now, C14 dating process has been proven not terribly accurate.

Great strides have been made through DNA dating, though.

I just read the report and it is lacking in info IMO. I would guess that it is probably a good idea to understate your findings and take it slowly rather than come out and say "it's an alien folks we proved it!" and then having the whole science community trying to disprove it. At least this way mabey (and it's a big mabey) their findings will be peer reviewed and further studies will be performed by other accredited institutions. It is still interesting even from a human mutation perspective if it turns out to be human or another unknown relative. 6 inches long and not a fetus possibly even an adult amazing.
I'm not saying it was Aliens, but it was Aliens!

I guess it could be an unknown species but they say it is not a new world primate.

Your right, it's been ruled out as a S American primate other than human with a b2 MitDNA.

But why the extraordinary long time needed to further analyse the DNA?

The head looks like a squashed human head, and the proportions of limbs to torso could indicate dwarfism.

So a six inch 6-8 yr old human dwarf child?

Still no evidence of an ET.

Just that in and of itself should be making world news. It would break all known records of human size to date. Like I said very interesting even if it is not an ET. Anthropologists, Geneticists, Biologists, ETC would want to study this humanoid I would think but it will probably be avoided like the plague by mainstream science for what it might represent.

If any of you really believe this tripe, you're pitiable. Zero-point free energy? Anti-gravity? Tell me, what use would anti-gravity be when you're flying through interstellar space? Mini-aliens? Steven Greer is a hoaxster and charlatan of the lowest caliber. Watch the so-called documentary, Thrive. It was $5 on their website and now it's free. Same jerk-offs involved in Sirius. The burden of proof is on those who claim these things exist. "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence." Let's see it.

Why is that? Because mainstream science (whatever that is) is more interested in hiding truth than discovering truth? Get a grip, man. Your open-mindedness on the subject is beyond crazy. You don't by any chance live in Buriram do you? I know a guy up there that thinks he's been abducted by aliens at least twice and they extracted his sperm to create alien/human hybrid children. X-Files cuckoo.

If the humanoid form is in fact a human, anthropologists would have jumped on the case by now.

When homo sapiens floresiensis. the "Hobbit" was found in 2004, anthropologists initially scoffed at the possibility that such a dwarfed hominin could have existed as long as it did. Eventually, tests indicated that the bones found were indeed of a recently (in the last 50,000 years) extinct hominid.

It only took less than a year to establish that the bones were indeed human, and that was established by Indonesian anthropologists. So how come US anthropologists can't give any final definition of what the humanoid specimen is in fact?

I think the specimen is a prop for a hoax.

I think you have to be open-minded in a case like this, where nothing has been proven yet.

I especially like this part of the article,

I have discussed with other scientists the possibility of epigenetic augmentation of the human genome. Is the Atacama Humanoid a so-called hybrid? Are we all some type of hybrid? Could this have occurred via contact with other extraterrestrial civilizations over millions of years? A source who refuses to be identified stated to me several years ago that he had seen a National Security Agency document that concluded that there had been 64 epigenetic augmentations of the human genome in the past that has resulted in
modern humans. Could this be possible?
A Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) scientist once told me that the reason the objects found on and near Mars - like the obelisks that Astronaut Buzz Aldrin want us to go back to Mars to examine- would show an ancient connection between ETs and humans- and that this is why that information is being kept classified. When I asked why, he said "Because the foundations of every fundamentalist orthodox belief system on earth would be up-ended".

We all could be hybrids, dude! The key is up in Mars (cue music).

Article purports to be a preliminary release to the actual paper. Starts off OK and runs well for a few pages. Then in the discussion and conclusion sections he spouts off musings and alien crap all over the place. No journal would print that tripe and I doubt it will ever see a respectable scientific journal.

The report by Garry Nolan from Stanford (who did the analysis):

Morphologic features include that the specimen has only 10 ribs, mild mid face hypoplasia, and shows abnormalities of the skull. The observed abnormalities do not fall into any standard or rare classification of known human pediatric disorders. As represented by a specialist in pediatric human bone and growth disorders (see attached report), the 6 inch specimen is a human that was likely 6-8 years of age at the time of death (age based on epiphyseal plate X-Ray density standards). X-Ray imaging and CT scan results confirmed the specimen is biological and is not a non-human primate. The specimen was concluded by the medical specialist to be a human child with an apparently severe form of dwarfism and other anomalies.

    ....

Over 560 million paired end sequence reads passed automated quality control filters and provided an estimate 19.6X coverage for the whole genome. Approximately 509 million (~91%) reads were mapped to the human reference genome hg19 (providing a 17.7 fold coverage of the genome). The presence of ~9% “unmatched” DNA should not be interpreted to represent anything unusual about the specimen itself. Reasons for the lack of match can include artefacts generated during library preparation, low quality reads from the instrument, or insufficient data to allow computational alignment against the human reference standard. Further, since this sample is likely to be at the least a few decade olds, and possibly older, DNA degradation resulting in apparently “false” mutations can occur. For instance, degradation of cytosine (C) via deamination to uracil (U) would result in false interpretation of a C residue as thymidine (T) and a resulting guanine (G) misread as adenine (A) on the opposite strand.

Reconstruction of the mitochondrial DNA sequence and analysis shows an allele frequency consistent with a B2 haplotype group found on the west coast of South America, supporting the claimed origination of the specimen from the Atacama Desert region of Chile. Sequence analysis definitively rules out the specimen as an example of a New World primate.

It's a child with an extreme form of dwarfism. The film makers know this but obviously whilst that's interesting, it's not particularly exploitable. Much better to feed some extremely selective and misleading quotations from reputable sources to a credulous, under-educated public and make a bit of money.

Ancient DNA requires extensive procedures to reconstruct missing segments. DNA is a very large molecule and it breaks down quickly over time. Missing segments are usually filled in from other sources taken from other examples of the species found in the same location. Doesn't apply in this case. Another technique, and the one used in the report, is to map the proteins in the sample and reverse engineer their creation to find the missing segments. Proteins being much smaller than DNA and lasting for much longer periods of time. In optimal conditions DNA has a half life of 521 years.

Man I tell ya I am very glad that I dont live in your little box of reality. I could tell you personal stories that would explain my openmindedness to you but it would be pointless as you know what you know and I know what I know. You cant convince anybody of anything especially if they have the opposite viewpoint on something. Thats fine with me as my posts on this thread never purported that I believe this thing was an alien just that I hope it would be true and that I was interested in it one way or the other.

Have you actually ever done any research or looked into anybody else's research on "Zero Point Energy" or do you just deny it offhand? I have read quite a number of papers on this subject (many from the ruskies) and I still have not come to a valid conclusion for myself on the actual possibility of this. TBO much of the math is beyond me, but I still find it fascinating.

Why is stuff like this so personally offensive to you that you felt it was your responsibility to call everyone that is slightly more openminded than yourself "pitiable"?

Have you been abducted by aliens, Probed, treated like an animal, and are just in denial?
