So you only really liked it because it was cheap at the time. That's not a glowing endorsement.

Not meaning the financial rewards from your job, (though the cheap cost of living could be a good reason)

Family, climate, hobbies, lifestyle, entertainment, spiritual/religious pursuits, gardening and building projects, sailing, golf, sports, painting landscapes. Let us know just what floats your boat.
I think living in a country that was so different and remote culturally and also economically inferior from your country therefore offering certain business opportunities, basically an exotic place and a lost paradise, was definitely the main attraction

today, all those places, from HK to Bangkok feels like cahotic rat holes with devious and greedy locals, economically booming and destroying the culture and the simple lifestyle that went with it. With every bargirls with an iPad, and the cheap farangs living here, not the expat, but the trouble looking Chavs and the angry Russians, this place is no longer a lost paradise, it's simply a shit hole.

it was from the beginning, but it had charms. Those are gone now, Asia is no longer different from the rest of the world, worse, it's simply a bad version of the world, where growth sacrificed everything else.

Why would you want to live here, let alone die here, continental Europe has some much more to offer.

why do u post here if you hate the country?

Pattaya/Bangkok are vastly different to other parts of the country

that pretty much sum it up, some people move here because they simply don't want to work hard, and to be honest I find this a bit irresponsible, even at a young age
Hard work without balance can be a waste of a life. Lots of people do that and end up broke anyway due to divorce, bad investments etc, with health issues or retire then find they have no hobbies and nothing to do.

Work is simply a way of funding your lifestyle and money doesn't make you happy, actions and relationships do that.
