One of the problems becomes our exposure to a very limited number of folks from each country while living as an expat. Turns out I know the town he comes from, I was raised about 50 miles from there in Vermont. When I asked if I could take his photo and have it published in the Rutland Herald, the local daily, he about had a fit. As I raised, what he thought was a pocket camera but was actually a cigarette holder, he beat feet as fast as his skinny ass could go.
It is not the first time I've taken someone up short for being an asshole, nor was it the first time they turned out the be Ugly Americans.
We all have our share of assholes that "SEEM" to be representative of our home cultures, I don't care if your British, German, French, Italian or Canadian or Kiwi or Aus. its all the same. Those of us who have lived outside the normal culture of home learn how to act (generally speaking) in mixed cultures. Some of us do not... sadly.

Basic values that citizens live thier lives by are not always represented by their governments, elected or other wise. To generalize and then tag an individual is basically just wrong headed. Do you know how I voted, or even if I did vote? If not you've no right to label me as a Bush supporter or a supporter of any of his government's policies. Such generalizations lead to mis-understandings and eventually hard feelings.
Its easy to allow our own prejudices into our posts on volatile or emotional subject matter. I kinda follow my own personal view that arguements about politics, religion and policy are basically a waste of my time. No changes will come about it is just more pulpit BS.
