    Bangkok to London Overland

    Anyone ever done it?

I'm aware that the Trans-Siberian is probably the only way forward although I was actually contemplating doing it on the Wave. She's already clocked-up the equivalent of circumventing the globe three fucking times over, so I'm sure she wouldn't falter in the Mongolian marshlands.

To be honest, I'm fucked if I'm boarding a flimsy piece of metal and cruising with a wide open ring-piece at 35,000 fucking feet for 12 hours again - and I'm quite sure, that as well as being financially viable, that the Trans-Siberian would be a quite an adventure. I'm thinking lashings of Smirnoff, goulash and orban haired harlots with filthy, dirty accents here.

My Nephew went back to UK using the train.
He enjoyed it so there must be plenty of bars along the way.

Any idea of the route he took?

    I was thinking Bkk - Laos - Beijing - Moscow - Berlin - Paris - Calais - Dover - London - Pub - Gutter - Dole queue, personally..

Maybe the various visas will cost you more than the airfare

I've not looked into that but I doubt it. A second class carriage from Beijing to Moscow is about 500 quid, and once you're in Europe visas obviously aren't a problem.

You can do the whole trip by train if you go via Cambodia/Vietnam into China. Takes about 3 weeks, but you do have more toilet breaks than British Airways.

^Visas and wars most likely. Met a German years ago who was doing an ATW on his BMW. Used almost exactly the same route chassamui. He had photos of his drive and camping in Iran. Afghanistan was avoided. He had to fly his bike to Thailand from Kathmandu as Burma was a no crossing zone due to political pressures.

I suppose it could be done on a Honda Wave as long as you had parts support and lots of Laokao to brace oneself for cold weather this time of year. Do it Slap! Bring the MIL along for moral support.

Maybe seeing a real shit house of a country might make Thailand seem a little more endearing.

It sucks that you cant go through the Afgan and toke on their lovely black hashish. Why cant we all just get along and drink/smoke/dance together and not want to cut each others heads off?

I'll make sure we pop in then. You can adopt Por if you want. He's highly entertaining if a little grubby.
