suitable attire.what do you wear when out and about in bangkok?

I decided to post this as i often head into town, just for a wander about and see all kind of different clothing choices. yesterday was a farang girl in a bikini top and beach shorts, wandering along sukumvit, near asoke. ive also seen people in beach shorts and no t shirt with said t shirt tucked into shorts. i dont really care, but its a bit much innit? wandering along with a beer gut out in the city?

myself i usually wear a pair of cargo shorts or similar and a tshirt, polo shirt combo.

for trips up the soi, to get food etc, shorts tshirt

a night out in town, jeans, sometimes shorts, poloshirt.

dosent really bother me what people wear, just asking.

what do you wear in bangkok?

Jeans & T-shirt or Polo shirt most of the time, I hate shorts and I don't own a pair of flip-flops.

If going out normally Jeans and a short sleeved shirt.

Shorts and a Pattaya wife beater 24/7

Thais scammers and Thai HOs do not pay attention to anyone dressed that way.

Good slacks or decent jeans & polo shirt. Shoes/socks.

Dress code for Bangkok has changed in recent years so now we see shorts & flip flops.

Then again, getting on an airplane these days it looks like most of the passengers just crawled out from under some newspapers down in Klong Tooey...

Jeans/khakis (almost always jeans unless I'm having dinner somewhere nice or doing business), usually a T-shirt during the day but a collared shirt in the evening, and a pair of all-black Nike mid-high tops, which look like shoes but are more comfortable as they're actually sneakers, and they stay clean-looking even when walking through the filthy streets.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Bangkok is the capital city so wear what you would in your own capital city! Yes i know it is winter in Berlin so no I wouldn't wear a ski jacket in Bangkok. But I also wouldn't wear beach attire in Berlin.

Well what is it? t shirt or not?

I'll wear shorts (cargo shorts like you) and shortsleeve collared shirt in day with sandals,
chinos with collared shirt and casual shoes at night.
Unless the day has turned into night, in which case I'll be wearing whatever I was wearing during the day.
I remember sitting in Kao san road having a beer after a day of meetings, this idiot giving me shit about hanging around in a suit and tie, can't remember why I hadn't got changed.

for some reason i have smartened up over the past year or so, i used to wear shorts and a t-shirt every day, with trainers or sandals. the t shirts were slogan free, cant abide shirts with adverts or logos, and bought as cheaply as possible around bangkok. likewise the shorts, cheap but with subtle style, if such a thing is possible.

geezers who wear loose fitting oversized t shirts and baggy shorts that come halfway down the calf and big lumpy trainers look stupid, like 6 year olds at playschool. should be a law against them.

locally made clothes are, these days, of such abysmal quality that they are really not worth buying. they shrink, the colours fade and they lose their shape. and branded imported stuff here is too expensive.

these days i buy all my clothes in the uk, better quality and better value and a better shopping experience, and you know they wont shrink or fall to pieces.

for bangkok i rarely wear shorts now, so its jeans or chino style lightweight keks, mephisto or timberland shoes or trainers, and decent polo shirts or proper buttoned shirts, all bought in the uk on my yearly trips.

buying stuff here in thailand is always a hassle, having those annoying drippy salespeople following you around, not leaving you alone, and picking stuff out for you and holding it out with those cheesy fucking grins, in that "suits you sir" style. as soon as they get near i'm off, and god help you if you ever need to change anything. reckon half an hour of paperwork and bullshit at a department store, or half an hour of pleading and begging at a shop.

Same as I wear at home, shorts and golf shirt, decent tee- shirt for out and about. Lightweight longs or jeans for more formal wear and good comfortable shoes.. For a trip to the 7/11 or such, shorts and vest.
