I watched quite a bit of Breaking Bad, and have to agree - it just never grabbed me. I thought both the plot and characters dull.
Deadwood I loved - as the old West probably was. Great when the wife and kids are down for the night - settle in with a good bottle of Scotch.
I think Breaking Bad is one of those things where it subtle in its beginning. You really don't see the transformation coming until it explodes. A lot of inner conflict stuff and coming out of his shell. Not for everyone I suppose.
Deadwood is right up there with the best. to controversial for T.V. I suppose.
"Entourage," was good in the early episodes but then got tangled in its own hype.
Same thing happening to Walking Dead.
Watched the first one and deleted the rest of the series.Originally Posted by ltnt
Breaking Bad ?
I'm halfway through it , it's good enough to watch but a bit slow , as they feel the need to labour certain points over and over and over , like about the strains in his family life .
Also , I hated the first episode, as they used that tactic where they screen the end of the episode first ,
then ''3 weeks earlier '' flashes on the screen
and they show you how they got to the end ie they finally show the beginning .
GRRRRRRRR
Annoying !
and naturally I took it personally and just skimmed through the episode in a few mins to get the plot and then settled down and watched ep 2 .
Which did it again , so 10 mins after starting breaking bad , I was onto episode 3 .
The Shield
I watched a few episodes now and then when it came out on TV
but stopped watching it when they started having a faggot cop on.
The woofter was naturally filled with disgust and self loathing - very realistic .
The main cop Vic Mackay was understanding and sympathetic- BULLSHIT ! - way out of character.
Then the cop suffering from gayness decides he's going to try to get cured -
it's bleeding obvious the course the plot going to take , this been politically correct USA TV , you know they wont let it have a happy ending with the poof turning itself into a man and finding a nice women ,
so to avoid the predictable shite I stopped watching it .
After The Wire the best cop show ?
Law and order Criminal intent , season 1 to 8 !
now that's class , with Goren and Eames ,
moody and thought provoking
She's lovely
they should have had her in The Shield to cure that limp wristed cop
The Shield is shit, shouldn't be mentionned in the same breath as The Wire.Originally Posted by Davis Knowlton
The Wire is sublime, best tv show ever. Have to agree with some of the comments here...it takes a few episodes to get into it. Once you get to know the characters it is absolutely brilliant.
Speaking of cop shows, Southland is also excellent.
Other shows that I've enjoyed recently are : Hell On Wheels, The Killing, Accused, Boardwalk Empire.
Oh, and Copper is rubbish.
I liked Entourage, funny show right up till the end.Originally Posted by ltnt
Californication is also very funny, anyone know when season 6 starts?
And is Larry David doing another season of Curb Your Enthusiasm or has that been canned?
The new season of Californication tarts January 13th (the same as the season premier of Shameless US season 3)- I still watch it because I like David Duchovny's performance, but it's kind of gone downhill and become a bit repetitive.
My TV favourites in no particular order include
Breaking Bad
Boardwalk Empire
Deadwood
Dexter
Forbrydelsen "The Killing" (and the US remake, which was good too)
The Sopranos
The Shield
Sons of Anarchy
The Wire
Homicide: Life on the Street
Generation Kill
Prime Suspect
Anything by Dennis Potter, but especially The Singing Detective
The sleep of reason brings forth monsters.
^Great line-up, although I thought The Sons of Anarchy went downhill after the first two seasons.
Blue. Who was the fag cop on The Shield? Makay and his three main guys weren't - unless my gaydar was turned off.
^^The black uniformed cop.
I just checked the list of series I have downloaded that I haven't watched a single episode of yet:
Falling Skies- seasons 1 and 2
Game of Thrones- seasons 1 and 2
Shameless UK- seasons 1 through 10
Firefly- all episodes + movie
Hell On Wheels- seasons 1 and 2
Hatfields and McCoys- whole mini-series
Newsroom- first season
American Horror Story- season 2 so far
Homeland- season 2 so far
All that plus a couple dozen movies- I keep downloading stuff, and then I can't find the time to actually watch it.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.
HST
That's right it was the black cop
they even made a normal actor play the role - thought the pink mafia would not allow that .
That was season 1 maybe i'll try a later series ,as it was good action show,
though I did not like that black woman on the right either
nothing like a cop
affirmative actions over promotion could not go that far even in America or could it ,,,
^It could....and does. Still, it's a great series. I've watched it several times start to finish over the years. Give it another try. Although the black fag cop and his despicable hustler boyfriend were a bit much.

Fail;
Falling Skies is pretty darn good. Caught me by surprise
Firefly series is from the movie Serendipity. Should watch the movie first to enjoy the series. That "Madam" is friggen gorgeous....
Homeland season 1 was interesting but that chicks obsession with him being a terrorist is a bit bizarre...
Like you I have tons DL'd but never time to watch them. I get maybe 1 hr or so a day of TV time because I am busy off doing stuff. Same in TL. I thought I could set up my own little "Prime time" deal and just never seemed to happen. I was quite excited as with the new Samsung TV's I can bluetooth right into the TV and watch them or set up a series on a USB and load content right in. Long past are the days of watching it on a laptop or PC. 60" vs 15".......
I really like Walking Dead less all the BS lovey dovey melodramatic crap. But I want a zombie apocalypse like that to happen. I would enjoy sitting around capping walking brain dead gnomes(Enough of those here that are still alive.) from my porch with my 50 cal. A bit of an overkill gun wise I know but fun nonetheless. The Crossbow is quite a good tool as well. Love when the guy steps on them and yanks the arrow out...
