Batteries ok. After three years might be wise to swap them out anyway. I need a hassle free year.

Happy with the deal. Typically these boats ask circa 130 sterling. Agreed at 102. Will have to spend 6 or 7k but should have it looking like new with all systems good for a couple of years.

The vendor paid 190 euros back in late 2008, so hes lost 65k e in three seasons.

Only fly in ointment so far is i wanted radar. I like to see the real time image to confirm position esp at night when coastal sailing. Buggery raymarine 2008 plotter no longer interfacs with 2012 radars.

Might go shopping at london boat show for new touch screen plotter and radar. I doubt santa will be bringing me one.

The boat has been neglected but scrubbing up well. Its never been in contact with detergent so coming back easily to factory shine. Keel bolts draw easily but will replace as i like my bilges shiny and spotless.

Another piece of equipment you might investigate having aboard is the AIS system (automatic identification system). It doesn't show most boats like radar does (only those fitted with AIS) but it very quickly adds your boat to the on bridge screens of the large fast commercial cargo vessels and ferries that might otherwise prematurely end your lazy days afloat whilst you are"speeding along" at 6 or 7 knots across their path. I have delivered boats with this system aboard and can highly recommend it in busy waters e.g. South China Sea.

Now there's a thought ;-). Prefer one that can launch a cruising chute with a working knowledge of sea toilet maintenance.

we'd agreed 130 on the phone, which was a keen price i reckon. Theres another one, two years older in menorca at 155k, but teak decks. Prefer plastic deck in med but the menorca boat would sell well in the uk after a year or so.

He's swallowing circa 7-8k of maintenance bills so i reckon 135 all in when the yard has done their thing will deliver up a shiny boat all widgeted up and ready to go.

Bloody knackered now. Less than a week after leaving los l and f is now boatedband heading for uk and family christmas. Cant wait to see boat in january

Found an apartment to rent for a couple of months on marina, three beds with balcony overlooking boat at 900e a month inc bills. Quite a decent pad to base myself whilsti get the boat perfect.

Not missing thailand......who knows how it will feel in a year

    Wow boat looks great!

There was somebody used to post funny stuff on Mangosauce claiming to be sailing round the world with a crew of Thai lovelies to assist.

Maybe a spoof or maybe it was... L&F?

Just went over there to look again but the whole site seems to have gone now

Woman and sail yachts, bad idea unless you have one with plenty of sail experience.
Nearly made me cry but just had to throw my collection of on boat books, no use for them now.

The batteries on bord are now 3 years old. All charging ok and showing 12 give or take.

Want to have as hassle free year as possible. Should i replace them all, or just the engine battery and spare?

Quoted 800 euros and some change to replace them all..........

I have found that 3 years is about the maximum reliable life of boat batteries, particularly in the tropics where they are affected by the heat. If your batteries are the lead acid variety then you might want to check the individual cells with a hydrometer. If one cell does collapse then the battery will not perform even though the rest of the cells are O.K. There is nothing worse than the "click" sound made by the starter motor as it fails to engage just as you are approaching a hazard you desperately wish to avoid.
FWIW, I would suggest replacement of the engine starter battery at the very least. The house batteries are the ones that carry the loads from your electronics and if you are reliant on those then it is advisable to replace them as well.
    Happy sailing.
