    Not like that....like that

Older Brits will know from the ten o'clock news in 1984 what they are seeing.

    So what?

This prefigures our own lives. What the audience thinks is staged, we now know as our own human fragility.

The catalyst of a moment of humanity. Do you feel the same way?

I rather think most these days would simply find it offensive. Death, like being born a coon, paki, stupid, fat, a ginga, Welsh or any other undesirable is what happens to others less fortunate and therefore unacceptable when applied to themselves.

If those on that wretched celebrity programme, " I'm a fuckwit, get me outta here " were to be televised in the throes of the final stages of Ebola infection then things may change.

Mostly, it doesn't matter. The bankstas will still foreclose, hacks will still scribble garbage and old age pensioners will still consume dogfood advertised as meaty, big and bouncy although the porn merchants might construe a different meaning.

The human race is essentially garbage waiting to be picked up, televised or otherwise, and is as relevant to the scheme of things as a mosquito fart.

If you really want to make a difference, go fuck a Mormon. Either that or go down the pub and do Tommy Cooper impressions of Jimmy Savile licking out a post pubescent daughter of some freemason police inspector whose finger is up a Tory bumboy's arse paying his dues to the Queen's second cousin hanging around Chelsea Barracks fucking a Guardsman fresh out of the untermensch breeding ground of a Sunderland council house estate feeding the local panhead Jap car factory earning zillions for a corrupt slanteyed conglomerate subsidising Uncle Sam's dream of world domination out of an M16 and Madison Avenue peddling more shit to the world than it knows what to do with.

Or, we could just watch it all on TV.

At the time i recall mentioning to a few colleagues that Tommy was 'appearing dead before a live audience' and really wished i hadn't as like most i thought he was a funny guy.

His theatrical innocence was a joy to watch and his crazy jokes are still doing the rounds 30 years on.

Devastating i suspect, for the audience to witness the demise of a much loved comedian before their eyes, however the memory of the man and his comedy lives on for all to enjoy.

I agree. Something serene about it. Even at s. 35 when he fell back under the curtain. I had never seen the footage before.

Gent, have you been drinking tonight.

One would hope that he is completely and utterly pissed. Only the demented write in that manner.

I remember seeing his final show live. The LiveLeak video doesn't show stagehands pulling the curtains over him, when it finally dawned on the audience and television crews that he wasn't play-acting.
Hard to watch that video again, tbh. I thought he was a great comedian already, before he died.

I had the odd sherry but was not intoxicated.

I think I'm experiencing a rather " blue period " at present but nevertheless I felt the comment had a certain relevance and rhythm to it.

Perhaps I should be drinking more?

no, they obviously thought it was all part of the act, and very good it was too!

I liked the man and enjoyed his shows, mostly

he went out with the audience laughing, he couldn't do much better than that

I think thegent has gone gangnam style on us.

His obviously deranged rant has absolutely no relevance to the subject under discussion, and is indicative of a serious neuronal disturbance, this is not the first time have we witnessed one of his neuronal meltdowns and seen the rather alarming results of total synaptic discordance and acetyl choline imbalance.

I suspect life in bangkok is just too much for him and perhaps a period of calm rehabilitation in the quieter north east would be beneficial to his apparently rather fragile psyche. His neurones and synapses would be given a chance to relax and allowed to adjust to a workrate more in keeping with his age and abilities rather than be subjected to the sensory overload that bangkok and pattaya provide.

In spite of his rabid distaste for all things isaan, for all things "baan nork", I suspect a period of readjustment, a period of exposure to the isaan mindset and its languid rhythms would be the perfect cure for thegents present frazzled and unpredictable state.

He needs to be gently rebooted into a more sympathetic synchronicity, and six months amongst the knuckleheads of isaan would be the perfect way of achieving this, away from the hyperstimulatory atmosphere, the steel and glass and the airconditioned bubble of superiority that is bangkok and the eastern seaboard.

Dont fight it, dont live in denial, get thee to buri ram sharpish and reap the benefits.

Tax, I thought it was a quite reasonable comment and the more I read it the more it seems germane to the issue raised by Moog although he, and presumably yourself, failed to appreciate the relevance, possibly because, like you, his thinking is more constrained by the obvious and dare I say, lumpen. Having to scribble on financial matters and worship at the altar of the dismal science for a living probably does that to a man but what's your excuse?

However, I may well take your advice and take the air elsewhere but not northwards where in my experience only lies a refuge for the truly dispirited. I was thinking perhaps a trip to Hua Hin where I might tap into the elemental seam of utter tedium that seems to pervade the place and attracts the smugly complacent.

I shall look out for you and make enigmatic passes if our paths cross. I rather think you may well be easy to spot: the dour, doughy Northern face festooned in hirsute growth escaping wildly from brow, nostrils and ears atop a pudgy torso balanced on stumpy white legs and tramelled by ill fitting, pleated bermuda shorts sporting a fine pair of pillowy buttocks probably marks you out quite well.
