I Need a fridge for a few months in lop buri, can I hire one?

Hi all I am currently working in lop buri and a rent free room came with the deal. Unfortunately it only has a bed and a cupboard. I might only be here for 3 months so I don't want to buy a fridge as I will probably end up having to leave it behind and so loose my investment. I would rather take a gamble and rent one. Does anyone know of a company that does this or a private person I could strike a deal with?

For 3 months you could make do with a polystyrene box (Tesco 100baht) and throw in 5 baht of ice per day.
    Total cost (90 x 5)+100= 550 baht

Make a very small hole in the bottom so that the water can drain out and place it in the bath.
I assume you won't be keeping your coal in the bath.

    Ok I'll try to help...

I don't know of any rental places, however I guess if you was to find somewhere you would be looking at 3-500 a month.

You can purchase a small fridge at homepro/powerbuy for 3240. Link You would prob find that in local stores for 10-20% cheaper. Now you use that for a few months and re sell it on the expat sites for 1500 baht. It will sell and it hasn't cost you much more than renting.

A bigger fridge here Link with a separate freezer for 4904 baht. I'd imagine you could sell that for 2500 ish in 3 months time.

^^ I agree, Craigslist sellers are usually a rip-off. Caveat emptor!

But none seems worse than those selling on the 'Chiang Mai Community Classifieds' site which caters to the Chiang Mai citizenry; and, essentially to the rotating Christian proselytizing missionaries who often demand more than the cost of a new item.

They usually ask ridiculously high prices for used bedding (‘slept on only a few nights’ is the usual refrain), pots and pans, toys, dated electronics (which like used refrigerators, should be avoided like the plague) and cheap furniture which are basically junk.
No thought at all, it seems, of donating to the hill tribes and other low-income groups who ostensibly form the foundation of their ministry. Their gods must weep….

Keep in mind that in North America most home cleaning companies seldom if ever will ever touch a refrigerator, a repository of bacteria and filth: imagine a used one. The OP should take the advice offered, and buy new.
My inner cynic is always on alert ….

Just buy a cheap fridge and leave it in the room for the next person along. Sheesh -it would work out at equivalent to 2k a month....

I have a fridge you can have for free but I am in Chiang Mai. You could borrow a trailer and ride your wave up here and pick it up. Only 4 days riding and 500 baht in fuel and you will have a fridge totally free of charge which you can sell for a profit of 1000 baht after 3 months. Deducting the fuel you could pocket a tidy 500 baht!! You may even be able to pick up a few other items here us wealthy expats want to throw out while your here.

All over a fridge? Strange, and there was some good advice as well including the offer of a free fridge!

Quite a lot of posts containing no doubt helpful suggestions to the OP were deleted by some kind hearted Mod.
