    Girls aversion to walking

I am sure everyone has noticed most Asian girls seemingly inbred, genetically encoded pathological hatred to actually walking for any significant distance.

Now admittedly there are a few genuine reasons for this, the major one being that the weather is not always conducive for a pleasant stroll out. I can see why a sudden tropical downpour upon a freshly coiffured barnet would not be a particularly pleasing outcome for these young things, however the less rational belief that this will also lead to severe bout of flu requiring several days in bed being administered various dubious traditional remedies is less plausible. Likewise the unforgiving rays of the sun beating down on their oh so fragile skin may also result in the horrific outcome of some shade of colour on these wannabe vampires.

Another factor in the equation may also be the entirely unsuitable footwear favoured for actually walking rather than wobbling erratically to the intended destination.

Do they believe walking is only something peasant farmers should demean themselves with?

Anyone got any other ideas as to why the walking option is really not on the agenda in most cases?
Don’t argue with idiots because they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

I'd go with the wannabe vampire theory. Unless it is at night in which case - pass!

Just pay the local som-tum seller a couple of hundred baht to move her cart 50 metres further down the road each morning. My misses can now do a 3 mile round trip without breaking sweat.

    They just need a reason.

yes i have noticed this aversion is suddenly, remarkably though sadly temporarily lifted when shopping is on the menu. strange that isn't it?

    I think it's the weather ..

on a side-note - question for expats. Did you adapt to the weather and sweat considerably less than when you first arrived in Thailand from farang land?

They seem to have little difficulty walking miles around shopping malls looking for shoes and handbags, and then leaving without actually buying a thing. Got my gf to go out for a walk three years ago, she thought it was insane and moaned all the way-what for, what the point etc etc. Never again.

Took me about a year to properly acclimatise to the tropical heat. I notice the difference most when out playing golf.
Either that or it was really fucking hot the first 12 months I was here then has been a lot cooler ever since.

i think local women are afraid here of local men quite too...
and - of course the dogs... i also wondered, how such gangs of semi-wild dogs wouldnt bother anyone else - only me?
someone in some thread said, the thais walk through them and dont notice and all is fine... its not true, thais (men and women) are even quite afraid of the dogs...

nobody is walking really... probably not be seen in the city center, but outside you cant really walk... people, not only women are waiting longer for the bus and/or taking buses which take 1.30 h when a walk takes 45 minutes...
there are issues with the environment... not really a place to have a stroll... except for city centers...

Don't bother to try to understand, just keep lapping the carpark for the extra 30 min trying in vain to get a park 50 meters closer to the door before she goes on her 3 hour walk around CentralWorld...

Lazy gits. I've seen many Thai drivers waiting only a few yards down for a car to pull out leaving a space immediately outside 7-11. The fewer footsteps the better! There are a myriad of reasons why.

    Sun
    Dogs
    Nasty Men
Appearance (Owning a car is status)
    Laziness.

All peculiar reasons that doesn't make sense to those that have it.
You bullied, you laughed, you lied, you lost!

Most Thais are lazy and don't.

^No less true though. The local "fitness centre" in my vicinity has cars double / triple parked, blocking other access roads and sois etc.
Lycra-clad girlies rushing to go 5km on a treadmill, yet can't walk 10m from their fucking cars..

    Clearly a city-slicker oriented topic.

Country folk are walkers - out of necessity or practice.

My Thai significant other walked all over London to avoid paying high fees for the London underground.

    A conversation I had 5 mins ago.

Me - Have we got any bread left? I fancy a bacon sandwich

Wife - We're out of bread but I'll walk to the shop for you because you've got a bad back.

Me - Just to let you know, my back is better today but thanks for going to the shop. I didn't want you to go under false pretense.

Wife - Get your own bloody bread!

I should have played the bad back card a bit longer.

It must be difficult to walk and not slip on all the semen dripping from their thighs.

Normally = Bacon + brown bread with tomato sauce.

Today (because I've got cheese) = Bacon + Onion + Cheddar Cheese + Worcestershire Sauce (Pre-Toasting) on brown bread with Tomato Sauce

And I won!!! She's gone to the shop. I let her take my car.
