...doesn't make the thai any cleverer, and doesn't mean one should avoid commenting. now does it?
jeez, you can't walk around with your eyes shut all the time, trying to avoid being a "thai basher"
if something's wrong or stupid, then why not comment on it?
fact:
the thais are a bunch of ignorant lazy arrogant dummies who should be, but are not: ashamed of how far behind in development they are in comparison to their other asian counterparts and they are either perversely proud of their own ignorance (thainess) or ignorant of the fact that they are ignorant.
or both.
.
SP must get around with some pretty low end Thais to be this jaded. What mate, you staying in some shack in Klong Toey or something?
Name one Thai who thinks Thais invented the car.
That is a genetic fault, and common in a number of breeds. The myth associated with it is that it started with Siamese cats, which were bred for the Royal Siam family - those that were most prized were those with kinks in thier tails. The princesses would slip thier rings over the tails when they bathed or slept and the kink would prevent the rings falling off and being lost.
Like I said though, thats the myth, and a number of breeds have this (genetically resessive) trait...
Fact? Your ignorance is showing. I know for a Fact you are wrong. But you obviously wouldn't be interested how I know this.Quote:

It would seem to me I have a fair idea about Thai people and their work ethic. I like it even if compared to western workers. Their critical thinking skills were quite good, far better than what I've experienced as a teacher here. My experience has expanded over the years here to include bronze foundries and unique manufacturing companies; all Thai owned and run.
I'm not selling anything; but I call bullshit when I see it. I have my gripes, but I usually get over it and move on. What's life without a few well placed challenges, eh?
Cheers, :)
Our business has a modest force of 10 employees, and I've found the same as Grower. We were careful who we picked, from good universities, etc, and they have pretty much nailed every task set for them. Granted, it is easy, repetitive work, but there is no book on what they do and a certain degree of figuring stuff out and critical thinking is required. They are committed to their work and take it seriously; if I was back in Australia paying $25 per hour for tempers, they would get bored and quit early, and likely not take it seriously and produce sloppy work.

So its not evolution in reverse, obviouslythe A stream from our community have migrated to Dorset with Hi-So TEFl teachers. I still suspect Lopburi is the missing link
Just asked around the village. Said "Who invented the ATM?" All knew the answer.
"It was Noi from Nakorn Nowhere".

Operating table for elephantsOnly in Thailand would they think of this invention. It’s an operating table for elephants, it’s can be raised so the elephant will be lying down or standing up, it has heavy duty pulleys on it so that doctors can operate on the animal without it causing a stir. There’s one for the record books.
