    Julius Caesar

Does anyone else see comparisons between the current political situation and Shakespaere's Julius Caesar?

You will recall from your school days no doubt, that a conspiracy of senators assasinated Caesar shortly before he was going to be proclaimed emperor. The conspirators were then hunted down by a coalition of Marc Antony, Octavius and Lepidus.

I have cast Thaksin as Caesar obviously
Sonthi Boonyaratglin leader of the Junta is Cassius
Sondhi Limthongkul ex big chum of Thaksin and the man who arguably made the coup possible is Brutus
Somkid Jatusripitak (ex Deputy Prime Minister) plays Marc Antony - currently burying Thaksin rather than praising him.

After the conspirators were eliminated Octavius eventually emerged as the first emperor changing his name to Caesar Augustus and leading Rome to a period of unprecedanted greatness.

I am having trouble casting his part
    Lord, deliver us from e-mail.

I had a word with Somchai. He said he'd do it for a bottle of 100 Pipers.

^ He's got his chin strap done up under the sand bucket there, so he obviously knows the importance of safety

^ and he probably knows members of the kamikaze squad behind him to help out in tricky situations - looks like a winner to me.

I think that it is possible to find analogies of all of the world's situations, present and historical, in Shakespeare; just as it possible to find them in nursery rhymes. As a species we are very unimaginative. The causes of petty disputes in, (and between), villages are really no different to those that are found in superpower disputes; it's just that the results differ in their intensity.

All of which suggests that Thailand is bound for a short period of great things (well, look at all the building work in Bangkok - fantastic!) followed by decades of incompetent leaders, most of whom will be mad, eventually turn the country into a decadent Christian state, and then finally succumb to the barbarians of the north - the Chinese!!
The truth is out there, but then I'm stuck in here.

Reckon they took a shortcut and went for the last option first.
