What makes a good bar ?

That seems to sum it up for most of us although I would add that a few non annoying girls to flirt with are always welcome. I also like a bar with a few good music videos on, not MTV stuff but good period rock & roll, Blues etc and again not intrusive to the point conversation is difficult.

Location is another factor. A case for that is a Scottish bar is Sukumvit did very well for many years, he moved maybe less than 1 km down a Sukumvit soi from his old location and even though he had a much better bar with more facitities it didn't work and I believe its folded.

As a regular evening pub...

COLD beer and clean glasses.
Fait price.
Good pub food.
Sports on the TV.
A couple of decent quality pool tables.
Good looking waitresses.
SPACE to walk around the place without crashing into tables or peopel.
Good music but not too loud.
Nice if they greet you when you walk in because they actually DO remember you.
Never full but rarely under half full.
Bit of live music now and then (but not too loud).
Extras like newspapers.
Able to drink at the bar, but with tables and more comfy chairs as well.
Full drinks list.
Decent happy hours and inhouse promos.

no smoking allowed inside the bar

(yes i have given up again - now on Day 4 - and it hurts like hell)

I have been following this thread for sometime and have concluded that any bar with no Welshmen in it should be OK for a pint or two. However, even the best bar in the world, if frequented by a Welshman, should be avoided

They have Irish bars, English bars and I even know of a Scottish
bar, But never a Welsh bar, Imagine how terrible that would be.

Pubs are full of drunk people.
