does it provide a way out of local talented Indians? sure, like it did with IT, but look at the overall industry in IT now, full of 'fake' talents at $1 a day for greedy American and European companies to exploit

is that what we want for the new space industry? low price competition until it turns dangerous and completely crap

Not the same. There won't be an outpour of second rate space engineers. Just a lot of young people who get into science and engineering. What the local industry needs, instead of another major in business.

I hear your point and it's a noble one, but that's not how it works in the real world

Indian companies will use those talents, monetize them, and sell them short to US and European companies

they are simply exporting their social misery, and we are buying plenty for cheap

at the end, it's a social and economic tragedy as much as white colonization was

Looking forward to the presentation on September 28. Starship will at least look like it is supposed to look like then, except the heat shield.

Russian engineers are planning a reusable cargo spaceship with cheaper transport costs than SpaceX

Roscosmos, Russia’s government-owned space development corporation, has signed an agreement with a private company to create a new reusable cargo spacecraft. RBC broke the news of the plan by acquiring minutes from a Roscosmos meeting.

The documents show that the planned spaceship, the Argo, will have an estimated combined takeoff and landing cost of $9.8 million. It will be developed through a public-private partnership with the company Reusable Space Transport Systems (MTKS), which was incorporated in May 2019 near Moscow. The company’s CEO, Dmitry Kakhno, also leads a government energy company. MTKS shareholder Sergey Sopov said the Argo spaceship should be ready for use by 2024.

Russian aerospace experts said the Argo appears to be a response to the American company SpaceX’s Dragon reusable cargo ship. The popular astrophysicist Vitaly Yegorov estimated that one Dragon launch costs about $40 million, while Russia’s one-time Progress spacecraft costs $20 million to use. “Thanks to its multi-use capabilities, we can assume that the Argo will be cheaper,” Yegorov said. He added that Argo’s planned one-ton capacity is more than that required for the International Space Station, meaning that the ship could be used for a future Chinese space station or even for interplanetary missions.

Elon Musk is an autistic narcissist fraud.

He is a mascot for the phony money losing "tech" sector in the USA. Anyone who wants to go to space, including Nasa, deals with the Russians.

Roscosmos refuses NASA launch of Soyuz MS

In 2020, Roscosmos third Soyuz MS spacecraft to the International Space Station (ISS) if the U.S. Crew Dragon is unprepared Starliner. This was stated by the executive director of the state corporation for manned programs Krikalev,TASSreports.

According to him, such a decision "would be a way out if we had thought about it earlier" as the construction of the Soyuz MS takes 2.5 to 3 years, and NASA has not allocated funds to Roscosmos for this, hoping for the readiness of Crew Dragon and Starliner in 2020. "We won't be able to launch the ship from scratch next year," Krikalev said.

The Executive Director added that in 2020 it is planned to carry out two Soyuz MS launches, the first of which, scheduled for March or April, will send two cosmonauts to the ISS, while the second, which is due to take place in the autumn, will send three.

Earlier in October, Roscosmos CEO Dmitry Rogozin spacecraft with three Russians in 2020 could prevent the U.S. side, which may need to send its astronaut into low-Earth orbit on

In March, SpaceX sent ISS. SpaceX and Boeing manned spacecraft to deliver NASA astronauts to low-Earth orbit.

In January 2018, the U.S. assumedengines RD-180 and RD-181, the Russian state corporation will be in a dire financial situation. Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said that "never has our rocket and space industry depended on the Americans" and the sale of seats in Russian manned spacecraft to foreign customers "is not any key article" to finance the state corporation.

Currently, people are delivered to the ISS exclusively by Russian manned spacecraft Soyuz MS. The corresponding contract between NASA and Roscosmos ends in February 2020.

Every year for the last 12 years, the Seppo's were supposed to drive Russia out of the space business.

After blowing up his man capsule effort -subsidy fraud boy aka Elon Musk- has now released his next attempt. A spaceship that looks like a water tower. Or a space dildo. A barbed one. That's probably how its going to feel for SpaceX investors.

it does look like a dildo,

I have doubt that any projections by SpaceX will be achievable, great for testing innovations but going into production?

the whole thing started as lab for space projects, and that's what it is and what it will remain, unless a miracle happens

is Telso CEO really that miracle? I have my doubts

You may not have noticed. But SpaceX has driven Russia out of the satellite launch business.

Dragon will do the same for crew, would have done already if NASA were a little less paranoid in supervising construction.

No it hasn't. Including Nasa contracts, Russia is still in the top 2 total commercial launches

And this is while SpaceX spews red ink as a company, by hawking more debt and stock, thus subsidizing operations. Wait till the junk bond market dries up

NASA isn't commercial. Russia is basically out of commercial launches. Except russian satellites. Most of which are military even if declared commercial.

Also now NASA contracts are coming to an end.

And the US military have said they are stopping the use of Russian launches from 2023.

Russia will basically be flying more dead geckos. In fact the chinkies will probably nick what's left of their business.

Minor correction. The military does not use russian launches. They do use russian RD-180 engines on the american launch vehicle Atlas V by ULA. BTW RD-180 are top class engines. Better than anything US companies have built so far. SpaceX with their Raptor engine is now getting into that range of excellence.

Not that the SpaceShuttle main engine RS-25 and the RL-10 are bad engines. But not RD-180 class.

    Complete load of utter poppycock

Russia and the US had about the same launch attempts in 2018. US slightly more. Europe had plenty too. But Europe has a Soyuz. So when you add up Europe's Soyuz launches and include them in Russian launches, Russia still wins. And the US doesn't.

But US military launches include the Atlas 2 rocket which is powered by Russian RD180 engines.

And Europe's launches include the whole turn key Soyuz system that Russia exported to the EU space program in 2011. Wake me up when SpaceX exports a whole system.

A Russian-made Soyuz booster rolled out to its launch pad in French Guiana on Friday, and hydraulic lifts rotated the launcher vertical in preparation for liftoff Tuesday with the first in a new series of French military spy satellites.

    Perhaps I misunderstood.

Russian State Space Corporation Roscosmos on Thursday condemned the Pentagon's decision to ban the use of Russian carrier rockets for launching US spacecraft considering this move as a clear sign of unfair competition.

"The Roscosmos State Corporation condemns this decision by the US Defense Department and considers it as another manifestation of Washington's unfair competition on the international space services market," Roscosmos press service said.

It was earlier reported that the US Department of Defense (DoD) will start implementing a ban on certain commercial satellite services from Russia after 2022, a document scheduled to be published in the Federal Register on May 31 revealed on Thursday.
