True Visions Anybody Else Need A New Box

About a month ago I got a call from True Visions saying they would be coming by the house to give us two new signal decoder boxes as they are switching over to a newer system. Well nobody ever came.

Today I come home to find both points in my house not working. Every channel has an error message "E 16 service is currently scrambled". So I diligently unplugged the box, took out the smart card and then restarted the system. Neither would work.

So I called the support number 02-725-2525 and spoke to a Mr. Tontan. " Oh Mr. AO we ran out of signal decoder boxes before we got to you and you cant use the system without the new box". I inquired as to how many others were affected. 'Many" was the answer.

So I have had the damn system for over 20 years, from IBC, to UBC, and now to True Visions with the gold package and they could not be bothered to get me a new box.

So hopefully tomorrow between noon and 5pm they will be here to put in the new boxes.

Shit content, shit support, shit service. Encompasses every thing that True does.

Anybody else stuck in the same boat as I am?

^^ Nope. Luckily some one was in on the day they decided to drop by to change the box.

mind you -they have been touting the change over and the cut off day pretty widely, surprised you missed it completely. All this is so they can broadcast HD programs as I understand it....

    hope you get it sorted.

They installed 2 new boxes in my house last month (I started a thread about it, actually)- I don't like the new digital box at all- it drops the signal all the time, and you can no longer arrange the channels in order- I called the tech at the main office and he said they've been getting many complaints (no kidding- they left out the best user setting) and they will try to upgrade them in June.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Got the new HD box a few months back.

Been meaning to ditch them in favour of a dodgy dreambox for a while but never got round to it yet. Soon.

Yup the wife has found a contact for the "dream box" as well. But I will wait until they get all this bullshit sussed out.

For 2500-6000 depending on options and 150 per month, the Dreambox does sound like an interesting alternative.

    Is that the dreambox?

^ no, that is just a dream

I think the Dreambox collects Phillipine satellite signals (?), mine used to

The contact she has is inside True Visions. I think I now know why they never made it to my house and ran out of stock. They may well be used as "dreambox" type devices here.

You may find life without TV a bonus,I have one 4 metres from here haven't looked this year ,my wife views odd DVD but once you remove it from your life frees up sop much time which as I age gets more precius.Odd match view in the pub etc. Everyone to their own, hope you get sorted but enjoy the gap and think what you'll do with refund for dnial of service 55555

The dreambox uses CARD SHARING to emulate a legit card. What it won't do is pick up a signal from a satellite halfway round the planet. That's what the dish does.

There are sites that shunt TV around the globe over the web, but it's usually a pretty crap service. If you have someone in the UK with a Sky Box, they can get a second one for a tenner a month and you can get a Slingbox HD to rebroadcast it over t'interwebnet. There will obviously be a delay as it works its way past the inevitable latency and buffers accordingly, but I've found it works well.
The next post may be brought to you by my little bitch Spamdreth

Not on the connection most of us have here in Thailand. That is the real pity. In the south they can get astrovision out of Malaysia and Singapore. Every channel True has cut is there and more. Hell True is so stupid they let the commercials come through for channels that do not exist here in Thailand!!!!

we get True from a secondhand service

he set up the dish and box and also a wifi connection to the internet

that decodes the scramble instantaneously and you get the True stuff, but at a fraction of the price (platinum for B350 a month)

I have an old PVR box from true which you had to buy. Am I right in thinking that I will have to ditch this and hire one of the new HD boxes sometime soon?

Fcuk you True Visions. I took off work to come wait for you from 2pm till 5pm today. Nobody came nobody called. I just finished getting my internet bill readjusted to the tune of 4000 baht.

Now its time for you. Complaining politely yet persistently is what I will do again.

I can't read Thai, so bills make no sense to me. Cunningly I've worked out that you get cut off when you don't pay. Whenever I go down to reconnect my shit every 3 months or so I notice that the True head office (True Tower - Ratchada) contains far to many smug looking people spending far to much on coffee.

    Big business.

We lost our signal at 1pm today. Phoned UBC and they explained about the new box and that a technician would be round with the new version this afternoon. Liars!

Now informed that tomorrow morning is looking promising. Could be a remake of High Noon if they dont appear, especially with the weekend imminent.
