I was advised my my gardeners to electrify the 3 strands of barbed wire fencing on top of the wall at the Chitown Estate for safety and security.
Is this legal in Thailand?
Has anyone done this?

I was visiting a friends the other day that keeps dairy cows. They had their cows corralled inside an agricultural wire fence. Why not use one of those ?
The barbed wire is already there on top of the block wall around the house.
I 've seen more than 1 residence on the East side of Suk down Bang Sare area with such wire electrified. Of course there were signs posted both in Thai and English. Unaware of the legal ramifications or authorizations though. I have similar interest in knowing the legality of such an action.
"Don't Sweat the Small Stuff....and it is all small stuff"
I was told it is legal, but to have signs posted.
After the resort farqng and Thai wife getting bashed to death, I think I am going to let them fire it up!
I read somewhere that it's illegal to electrify barbed wire but you can have an electric fence and it needs signs
SEA and Chi, you guys crack me up. I have not seen your place Chi, but SEA you have to admit you have one hell of a wall around your place. Use like 1200 volts, make it like a mosquito swatter. Go for it.
I don't live where I need over the top fortifications to protect my family .
Just something to ponder ......................
I wonder if any other farangs that have been murdered or robbed in Thailand thought or said the same. It could happen anywhere in Thailand.
that would be why all farangs live in self contained prisons
If you're worried, buy the wife a gun. Don't piss her off though, especially on those 3 days of the month
Mid, you are being extremely naive if you think it is safe in Thailand. If it is, then why does nearly every house have a wall with spikes built around it and bars on the windows?
You are the TD news reporter. You do read your own threads right?
Do you wear a seat belt when you drive your car? Or a helmet when riding your motorbike?

Maybe I should get one of these too!
I can imagine a few reasons. So why did my gardeners tell me I should do it?
If you have any valuables you do have a wall and live in a gated community. If you live in a vi8llage with nothing you don't. It is plain for all to see folks. Shop houses having steel rolling doors over the front of them, town houses and single family homes have fences and sliding gates. Most villages are even walled with security.
So take the rose colored glasses off your snouts!
Well, perhaps they were telling you what they thought you wanted to hear. Perhaps they were taking the piss. Perhaps it was a bet between them to see what they could get you to take seriously. Perhaps their mate owns an electric barbed wire shop and they thought it might be worth a few quid to them. But perhaps they really were serious. Who knows. Whatever the truth is, it's a ridiculous idea.
Wot , you mean to tell me you haven't ?Originally Posted by chitown
