Two trucks lie on their side on a bridge at Toyama city, western Japan, on April 3, 2012, after a typhoon-like spring storm brought strong gusts and heavy rains to Japan, causing traffic chaos. Meteorologists urged the public to stay indoors if possible. xxx.xxx.xx/news

The vehicle being towed did not have winter tyres, the recovery driver should have known better than to try and soft tow it.

Was there a driver of the other truck - a bloke to turn the wheel on corners, etc?

How was the big truck being pulled/lifted then? Look at :24 into the video, it's just a link of some kind to pull the big truck; how are the wheels turned at corners?

^By the usual cable that a tow truck uses with its winch...

There was a driver in the big rig...but its not easy to steer in the snow...and it depends on the angle of force from the cable, amongst other factors...

^Yeah...its hard to see...then they switch to the other angle...but it stated in the article (if you go to YouTube) that the Lithuanian driver went down with the rig and luckily suffered only broken bones...

Wow! How come they didn't immediately explode and burst into huge fireballs, like in the movies?

The special effects guy with the explosives was stuck on the road back aways and didn’t get there in time. They went ahead and shot it without him. Sort of an “unplugged" version.

The mayoral candidates in London are discussing that method of parking too, due to lack of spaces
