Thread: Bangkok over Songkran.

What's the crack?

Are there any unmissable events/things to avoid like the plague in Bangers over Songkran?

Due to forseen circumstances i have to be up in the big smoke for Songkran and would appreciate the heads up from folk that have previously suffered from a similar affliction.

Here up country we like to call a hole a hole and not gloss around it with a bit of cement. Those bloody pavements are a disgrace and a death trap.

Avoid KSR, Suk soi 4, and the Patpong area of Silom if you aren’t into having a bit of fun. Otherwise, Bangkok is great as it tends to become like a ghost town and traffic is wonderful.

If you are into a bit of fun. O’Brien’s on Silom is a good place. They have a terrace outside from which you can partake to heart’s desire then go inside and take a break and have beer anytime.

Soi 4 is just open warfare and unless you are hardcore would not recommend it. For several years, used to hang out during Songkran at a bar in Raja parking lot just off Soi 4 and could decide how wet or dry I wanted to be, but it changed owners and I no longer go there.

Never tried KSR, but from first hand reports it’s even worse than Soi 4.

Roger that. Best time of the year to go to Bangkok, imo. It's like having the Expressway all to yourself as well. Recommended.

The entire city in general would be a pragmatic starting point. Jump over the fucker in a North Easterly direction and you'll find yourself splashing in a gigantic pool of neat alcohol.

Keep your money, cell phone and anything else you want dry in a plastic bag. When you go out wear quick dry shorts and sandals. If you want to stay dry do not go out after 10 am that's when they get reved up. It all winds down after 21:00 they just get plain tuckered out. It lasts for three days in bkk as I recall, fri sat and sun. By sunday they are spent critters.

wear sunglasses so cnuts cannot squirt klong water and rub powder in your eyes
avoid motocycles
when in a taxi , lock the doors
keep your hip flask of ya dong stashed down your y fronts

That part of Silom can be pretty wet during the day. It does quiet down at night though, unlike Soi 4.

Yep cant argue with that as I was there 2 years ago and usually enjoy Songkran but unfortunately was sick with the flu and full of bad attitude as I am when off my game.

Could not step outside the door with out some cont drowning me and I was teetering on the edge whether to just buy an AK47 and blast of few hundred of these sick bastards from the face of the Earth.

So now I say a big ," Fuck You " to Songkran and just stay well away from the wankers.

Much better for my mental health which is fucked at the best of times.

Another year I was going on a diving trip out of khao lak and was flying into phuket.

As luck had it I landed dead smack in the middle of Songkran.

Mini bus drops me at the bottom of the Soi and by the time I reached the hotel Myself, the Backpack and every other bit of kit on me was foking soaked.

Cont's did not give a fok that I was just arriving.

Pissed off again.

Songkran's foked bro.

The best thing to do is stock up at BigC the day or 2 before and don't go outside your house for 2 weeks - has worked for me for the last 10 years in Bkk...

Yep, I remember seeing the staff from the bank trying to go out and eat at lunch time. The retards even drowned them even thou they were dressed up in there good gear for work.

Some dark looks going down that day with the locals.

I like a good time but this is on the edge.

Nice days to stay home and fix up things around the house, play with the kids and the dogs.

I enjoy counting overturned pickups and squashed mopeds over Songkran.
