fair point, but hoods blend in a little easier and you don't have to go down the fishing shop to buy them.

Hoodies make you anonymous. Even your own mother wouldn't be able to identify you in a hurry.

The main reason that petty crims. wear them is because of the quick cover from facial recognition that hoodies offer.

It used to be the rolled up balaclava that could quickly be pulled over the face that was popular, but became illegal in such use, as the IRA improvised it to make a full face cover.

The hoodie is so far legal, as it doesn't afford full face cover, but it can quickly allow anonymity for anybody wearing one.

The same applies to burquas and veils, or any form of covering that leaves a viewer only guessing at the wearer'sl appearance.

Could you recognise the criminal in the smart looking 3-piece?

Could you recognise the criminal in the clergy robe?

Could you recognise the criminal in high-ranking dress khakis?

Disguise is an advantage to any one wanting to avoid identification or detection.

It's not an infallible advantage, though.

Looks like the bloke on the left can actually shift his whole head to his right shoulder.
